Does anyone practice doing this? (stabbing a pencil or some other object into your soil multiple times to help growth)

Personally I'd think your likely to do more damage to the roots than good by doing that

agreed! use perlite or vermiculite for aeration. it also helps drainage, so it's a win win.

if you are worried about aeration for your roots, just add 30mL of 3% h202 (hydrogen peroxide) to a gallon of water. this is beneficial to aerobic (good) bacteria, as well as kill anaerobic (bad) bacteria. it also introduces a radical oxygen atom (h202 is just water with an extra oxygen atom) which oxidized elements making them more available for the root to take in.

don't over do use it though as it can/will kill the beneficial stuff in your soil.

Nah not worried at all, just wondering if anyone has experimented with this method. I know that grass loves it! lol grass as in lawn grass. :rastasmoke:

one thing I do, when growing in soil, is to occasionally stick a pencil up thru the container's drainage hole (sometimes, soil compacts there, and prevents proper drainage) ... other than that, I don't recommend it, as disease, etc., 'could' get easy access to roots, also ... :smokin:
