aww man, I first noticed the plant in my yard at the begining of the year, its over 1.8m (6ft) high at the moment. Started budding just over two weeks ago.

Thanks.

It'll get you high (at least it always gets me high 2 weeks into flowering)... yield will be next to nothing, though :( They usually won't fatten up until the final few weeks.

that's to funny. How did this plant turn up and end up being a monster and you just noticing it now? and why do you need to get rid of it, you could try to transplant it to another location.

Hi...

Did not mean to plant/grow, just threw out seeds and stems(in my garden) when I was rolling a joint. Then noticed the plant early Jan, started taking care of it from then. Two days ago the Gardner asks my mum(who up to then taught it was just an ordinary plant growing in the garden) what he must do with the Dagga tree(he was hoping my mum tells him to cut it out so he can take it) but she said she will ask me. He did break a few branches - noticed that this morning. So my mum asked and I just ignored, I'm fearing the worst when he comes next week.......

Transplant sounds good will it work? Any idea how big/long the roots will be?

yea.. you shouldve explained your situation b4 automatically assuming you had to get rid of. Tell him that it's nowhere near done and if he let's mature yall will both have enough bud to enjoy through spring and early summer. either that or take the risk of transplanting a plant that has already started flowering.

id be happy that the gardener might even be a bud smoker

Spoke to him yesterday - he is cool with waiting and sharing , The problem is my MUM, When she did not know what plant it was, all was fine but now that she knows I'm pretty sure all she wants to do is chop chop :(
I'm going to leave the baby and hope all will be ok.

I've attached a few more pics.
Thanks for the help, any comments welcome.

there is what's called the 60/40 phenomena. it basically says that once a plant starts to flower it spends the first 60% of the time stretching (growing) and the last 40% fattening up the buds.

A few pics attached of the lower branch that broke off :( Most probably broke off on its own but there is a slight chance it could be the kids playing ball in the garden. Its 20inches long. Pity it did not have the time to "Fatten" up.

Haha, nice thread! I just started reading it, and I remembered that I threw out some seeds about a week ago into our backyard "forest" (behind our backyard there's a hill with tons of plants and trees growing). After looking around for a few minutes, I found a couple of MJ plants already sprouting out of the ground!! Hilarious! I know it's MJ because I had a successful indoor grow last year and I know what the little guys look like.

I think I'm gonna leave them and see what happens. No one ever goes out back there...ever, so it's a perfect spot. The seeds are from mids, but that's what I used last year indoors and the product was spectacular.

How long ago do you think you threw the seeds into your yard? And does anyone have an idea of how long a very basic outdoor grow would take from start to harvest? If the seeds started sprouting today, would I need to wait until the fall to harvest?

Hi, I would have thrown them out end of December - So thats already 6months with minimal fertz (basic outdoorfertz) and Molasses in the last week.

@Greenthing - Will leave a ample for the Gardener :rastasmoke:

@Bigtopsfinn - Thanks

Hi all

Will update with some pics in the next few days,
Might have to chop her down soon, cause someone is helping themselves to a few branches. Checked her today and found a branch missing. Now I'm thinking that the lower branch that was broken was not by mistake.
All together thats 5 branches that were broke off. My first and only guess is..........yip THE GARDENER.
Cheers

If you think its the gardener and you see that he keeps breaking branches off I chop it down soon and give him little if any at all. If you have the patience to wait but he doesnt.. and its not even his then he doesnt need any.

yo, just started reading this, and i have to say for an accidental grow they look brilliant! and i agree with MD, if it's the gardener takin the branches, figure out a time u can chop it and give him a branch or two (after u dry and trim em), depending on how much u got in the end. how did the earlier buds smoke? and how long did it take to trim em?

Good luck and happy smoking!

Thanks

The earlier buds were a good head high not too strong but a really good in-between smoke. I must say I quite enjoyed it and at the time was thinking that perhaps I should harvest now. Unfortunately I was not around last weekend and will not be around this weekend as well (weekend is the only time I can harvest). So I'm guessing that next weekend will do. As for trimming it was only one branch so it was not long at all.

The yield doest not really bother me as I am not a regular smoker.

Sherlock Holmes and his dear friend Dr Watson decide to go camping. They drove to the countryside and set up tent. They made a bonfire, talked and laughed until midnight until they fell asleep inside the tent. In the middle of the night Sherlock Holmes opened his eyes and gazed up at the stars. He woke up Dr Watson and asked him, ??Watson, what do you see?? ??Well, I can see stars and the moon.? said Dr Watson.? ??Yes, but what does it mean?? asked Sherlock Holmes. ??It means that the universe is very dark and big and full of stars.? answered Dr Watson. ??Yes, but what does it really mean?? asked Sherlock Holmes. ??It means that we are very insignificant in the universe.? said Dr Watson proudly. ??No, Watson!?, said Sherlock Holmes, ??It means that someone stole our Fu#@ing tent!?

Its the Gardener, I'm pretty sure. :)

It's probably too late to think about transplanting them somewhere else. If you were serious about the grow, you would probably want try to find a way to keep people from getting to the plant. Whether it's the gardener or someone else, obviously someone feels comfortable helping themselves to it. And who knows, next time they might take the whole plant.

If the plant smokes well right now and the trichs look good (see other threads for how to gauge the trichs -- go to Radio Shack and buy a $10 magnifier), I'd harvest immediately. After trimming and drying, put 80% in a mason jar and let it cure for a couple months. I'm sure it will be bomb after that, even if you were forced to harvest a few weeks early. (10% should go to the gardener, and 10% for smoking immediately).

Just my two cents. Happy smoking!

Report back on the water cure,
Was just like all the other posts out there,
Buds shrunk to about half the size, dried within two days and smoked pretty good. Used it in a joint and no smell or taste, easy on the lungs.
I enjoyed it alot and since I dont like the smell of air cured weed and dont smoke for the taste I am going to water cure whats left in the garden.

ps. anyone know if you can water cure whats already dried and air cured?

1st pic is of the ONLY branch on the tree.

3rd is a closeup which still shows clear trichs.

Can you get a picture of its full height as its hard to determine how big the root ball would be before you dig up and find its huge..
Dont let them kill it though even if you can only remove as small cola or 2 it will be worth it.

Hi
Last post on the 'Dagga tree', MAYBE.
Have a look at the pics below
1st is the 'tree stump' - black arrow
2nd is what the red arrows are pointing to (I guess those are from seeds that fell of the plant)
3rd and 4th are of the roots

Pics of some of the yield
the second and third pics are those of BHO
ALOT of the small buds went into making this, the lighter brown was made using the water purge(let the butane fall direct into water) while the darker one was normal- let butane fall into glass dish then evaporate and collect.

Cheers all.

Since when does a 6 foot plant become a monster... Alot of you guys grow midget plants or something. Where I live plants get 12 to 15 feet tall and yeild pounds not ounces. Be sure who you listen to on these websites before you go cutting or destroying or anything at all. Monsters are found in the south and are twice the size of your 6 foot babies.

Why not just be happy for others when they harvest a plant. Just because you can grow those doesnt mean that everyone else has the right strains or adequate environment.
