OK so the US has it pretty sweet at the moment with people from all over the social spectrum supporting the cause in one way or another but over here in the UK things are looking grim.
The government is still trying to tell people pot makes you mental as an almost certainty, the average guy on the street still doesn't see the sense in decriminalisation or medical use and most importantly at all, there is no majority dialogue on the topic AT ALL other than when its classification is raised to 'protect the public' or when a 'SUPER STRENGTH SKUNK' appears and turns everybody INSANE :wtf:

I know there are good guys over here but I also know there is very little in the way of relaxed dealership. Most dealers are gang based and very rarely homegrows, there are no MoM's operating to the UK (at least that I know of), prices are stable but quality certainly is not as it's more a money spinning business here than a love of the green which will hopefully change with time or maybe I've just spent the last few years looking in all the wrong places. I know there are others out there who know the truth and want to change things and are just as frustrated as I am that it's so downright ignored in the UK.

I want to start doing something to help the cause in a country that majorly ignores the need for progress in cannabis reform. We regularly spend hundreds of thousands of tax payers money on research to determine whether MDMA and Cannabis are truly dangerous both of which regularly come back almost clean. Yet still in a 50 page document one word out of place causes reclassification to that of sterois?! Because there MAY be a SMALL link to mental health in a TINY FRACTION of cases?

Well shit I'm allergic to peanuts but I don't have to risk getting stabbed to go buy a pack of yellow M&Ms.

I want to do something but I just don't know what?!
Are there any active UK groups working on this at the moment which need flyers handing out or survey work done anywhere? I'm not a lawyer but I follow worldwide MJ news pretty closely and I've read medical research on the green cover to cover. I want to help or maybe start something so anyone who could possibly help with any sources of information already in a good format for public or any organisations that are currently operating in or looking to expand to the UK that would be really great!

Thanks for any help from anyone, I'm just fuckin' sick of writing to my MP every few weeks and spreading the word by mouth just isn't fast or far reaching enough.

well its not really all tea and crumpets here in the US, either. :D (sorry) it really depends on where you live here. California is golden (so to speak) but where I live one could be looking at a life sentence for growing even one plant! most of the busts here are from state cops as opposed to federal police, so the biggest concern here is usually about the state level laws.

But, that said, even when California passed med use in 1996, they were still subject to federal arrest and many were. Everyone said you cannot legalize med use at the State level, it is a federal matter, in which California replied, as Californian's generally do, fuck you we do what we want. Now, 13 years later there are 12 other States that have followed suite and the feds have all but agreed to quit busting them.

I remember when I signed up to get my med card there was a paragraph that stated something to the effect of you are about to take part in an organized act of civil disobediance against the US Federal Gov't. Kind of a scary thing to sign up for but I'm glad I did. It seemed to have worked.

I'm not sure if that helps you much in the UK but that seems to be the one way we have ever made much progress here. I think we invented reefer madness here and, unfortunely, its still alive and well here, too.

I have found it odd where the US is finally moving forward with a rational drug policy but most of the other countries are headed in the opposite direction.
One of our biggest arguements for legalizing in the US is the gang violence associated with drug sales. Legalize it and it all disappears.
Maybe the UK wants to become like the US was and just incarcerate everyone.

of course, what Californian's really said is that we believe that we can save lives by properly growing and using this herb. Therefore, that is exactly what we must do. :)

it was only some of us Californians who thought f.u. feds.
