every sunday my son and i go fishing, it's got to be one of the best stoner sports, sitting round a big lake watching all the wildlife can be so relaxing, even if i don't catch anything i allways enjoy it. today i will spend 2-3 hours tieing differant rigs and prepareing the bait, and spend alot of the day thinking of ways to try and catch the biggest fish in the lake, i love the weekends fishing and smoking 2 of my favourite pass times:D

I hear ya babe, fishing is amazing. Come up to my area (Manitoba/Ontario region, its called The Whiteshell.. look it up kids) we have the best fishing in the world. There's a few places where you'd have to try not to catch fish. And not just any fish. Pickerel. Add some butter, beer, herbs and garlic and you have a mouthgasm waiting to happen.

Being in the middle of a lake is so serene... surrounded by the peaceful force of nature.

I hear ya man. My friends and I go fishing just about every weekend. Fish for a few hours and then make a quick five minute trip to the beach!

No matter if it is fishing, ice fishing, trapping, hunting, hiking, camping, canoeing or snowshoeing season I am there. It also makes for some great opportunities for growing.
I love it, outdoor recreation is indeed relaxing and it charges the spiritual battery like nothing else out there.

P.S. Fishing gives you an unlimited supply of fertilizer :P Just remember to leave some for the bears. An old timer told me that using weed attracts fish while fishing, lol.

I love it! I don't have my own boat yet, so I just join in fishing tournaments with my old man, who has a badass Ranger. I love getting a good buzz before we launch and watching the sun rise over whatever lake we're on. Can also make not catching any fish (or catching non-keepers all day) much more tolerable.

had a great day fishing only caught one fish and some stupid goose that decided it liked the look of the bait, that goose took me 10 mins to get on the bank but luckily it wasn't harmed:thumbsup: another great stoner day, can't wait for next weekend:D

at first i thought it was a big carp thats what i was fishing for, carp fishing is very popular in the uk, not for eating just pleasure fishing, a great fighting fish, but not as good fight as the goose put up, i was fishing about 120 yards out and the goose stripped of about another 100 yards before i realised what was happening, an idiot watching me told me to just cut the line but thats the worst thing you can do the goose would have just ended up getting wrapped in the line if i had, the goose did manage to give me a good couple of bites which bloody hurt before i managed to wrap it in my unhooking mat and unhook it, it felt good watching it for the rest of the day swimming around as if nothing had happened, and as a goodwill gesture i shared my lunch with it:D
johnny the whiteshell looks beautiful i would love to fish there:thumbsup:

im usually a spinner kind of guy. but on the lazy days, i just throw a night crawler , sinker and a bobber in the water and wait for some random fish to grab it, be it carp , trout...whatever. those days usually involve alcohol and a lawn chair though. i went out today with the spinners....few bites but i didnt hook any. good time though.

and tomorrow, its after the goblers!! great time of year.

Fishing and getting high is like beer and cigarets!!

I love it because my concentration goes up when i get high and I am able to focus on the feel of the line better.

I can see the appeal, i tryd it once with my grandpa on a trip in NH. However, on these issues, such as fishing and hunting, i don't see how one can justify 'relaxing' when they're killing or harming defenseless animals. Sure there's a lot of fish in the sea, but does this mean you have to kill them? They're not a threat. I like cod but that's about it..
I eat meat so maybe this line of argument is hypocritical. I don't kill or harm tho. Spending time with your son is important but you can easily do it without harming animals.

fish care is very important to me, i've spent £2000+ on my set up and i allways have the care of the fish as my main priority, i use rigs that are easy for the carp to eject if i get snapped up, i use a very large very padded mat for unhooking the fish and have special fish antiseptic for any fish i catch that have any sort of cut or infection, experts say that carp have no feeling in their bottom lip(this i don't know as a fish can't tell you) but with a good rig you 99% hook the bottom lip, the fish are allways treeted with care and returned as soon as possible to avoid any stress. but if i'm sea fishing for bass when i catch a fish it is hit hard seferal times on the top of the head to kill it, a much more humane way to kill the fish than just throwing it in a box and left to die like the trawler fisherman do, but maybe i'm a hypocrite as i love animals and wouldn't want to harm them unnessary, but i do think the fish are not hurt or stressed by the way i fish for them:thumbsup:

Cows and deer both have pretty brown eyes, and the meat of both are delicious if properly prepared. I don't want to get in an argument about animal rights, but for myself and many others a day afield or on the water is a very primal experience that is extremely relaxing and enjoyable.

I can appreciate that taking life in this manner does not appeal to you but responsible sportsmen were really the first conservationist who realized that seasons and bag limits had to exist in order for there to be a sustainable harvest of fish and gama, as well as conservation of the land and the water. Aldo Leopold and Teddy Roosevelt were promoting land conservation 100 years ago because their intimate relationship with the land gave them first hand knowledge of the correlation between the health of the land and the health of wildlife.

I am an x poacher and i do not think it is wrong to kill as long as you do it for the pot and respect the animal or fish that you catch, I fed my family for many years on food we would not have been able to afford from a shop, its called survival :stoned:

i totally agree as long as it's for the pot it's all good, much better than alot of farmed meat/fish you get from the supermarkets that are kept in squalid cramped conditions before being slaughterd.

I do all the above mentioned outdoor things and am a part of the circle of life.
I see no difference in chopping down a perfectly fine hemp plant or catching a beautiful lake trout for my family to consume. It is a very fine and personal/philosophical line in the sand that has been debated for a long time. I suppose it shall always be that way, a personal choice and one that should be respected.

Weedmaster what do you use for carp bait?

All I got to say is I go catfishing about every weekend and nothing thrills me more than hearing that bait caster hum when a big channel cat grabs the squid....Also there is nothing like catching that son of a bi**h and bringing him directly home to fillet and fry into nuggets! HmmmmHmmmmHmmmmm:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Weedmaster what do you use for carp bait?

i mainly use boilies useally 18mm kg1 over a well baited (spodded out)area of particle mix, the mix consists of bird food, hemp, rice pudding or condensed milk, cat food, chilli powder, tuna in brine and salt. if you use bird food and hemp it must be prepared otherwise it will swell up in the fish's stomache. to prepare it,(bird food) soak in water for 12 hours than boil for 15 mins for hemp soak in water untill the hemp splits useally about 24hours then boil for 30 mins. the milk or tinned rice pudding makes the water cloud up which attracts them, alot of people don't know but carp love salt but not too much. other baits that work well is cheese, lunheon meat and any spicey sausage.i don't useally tell people what i put in my mix so any carp anglers in the uk please dont advertise my mix and let everyone know about the salt (even though some of the top carpers know this), you need to be one step ahead of everyone else on the lake and a little bit of salt can give you the edge over everyone else.and one last tip is use pigeon conditioner but make sure you prepare it in a small pva bag, that is one tip you don't want to share. i know of some other great mixes and bait but i'm sorry i'm not going to tell all my little secrets:D

Up here in my neck of the woods the brook trout fishermen hit the weed pretty good. I'm not going to guarantee you catch more fish but it seems the guys who are smoking always do. Of course when the fish are not biting ( usually the case ) and the weather stinks , its a great relaxer around the old campfire.

I like going for striped bass or black bass in this area. Shiney spinner baits are so fun, and when you are stoned its almost like you see the thing moving slow motion while twinkling like a star... then the bass HITS! The struggle begins and your heart is racing!! Dont break the line!! lol.

Sounds like you might be near my area, I don't know many places where you can fish striper and black bass. There's a big, deep, salty, cool lake that has just enough saline for the striper to reproduce. And striper is soooo yum!!!

I ususally catch black bass on a plastic worm. The best for me has been Mann's Apple Jelly worms. They smell like apples, but I think it's the color and very soft texture the bass like.

To the UK angler, it sounds so funny to hear about purposely getting carp. :) Most people here get mad when a carp hits. It's considered the same as getting a snapping turtle, only less dangerous. We don't really think they're good eating. And it seems like they offer no challenge, just throw anything with a hook and you get a carp. Maybe it's a different carp though. The main thing is that we think they have way too many bones to be pleasant eating. I read somewhere that hempseed is an excellent bait for carp. Any experience on this? BTW, sometimes I takes the hulls off a few bagseeds and eat them, wow they are delicious. :)

As far as hunting, my dad is against it, but he eats meat. I have never understood that viewpoint. Livestock are treated terribly before they get to the refrigerator, on an animal welfare basis I would take venison over beef any day of the week. Plus it tastes sooo freaking delicious. I have never hunted though. I'd like to if I can just get the nerve to actually shoot a mammal. Maybe I should go for quail or doves on my first hunt. :)

Maybe I should go for quail or doves on my first hunt. :)

Jeremy Grey: Have you even shot one of these things before?
John Beckwith: The whole 17 years we've known each other I've been sneaking off to go on little hunting trips around the world. No, I don't even know what the fuck a quail is!
Jeremy Grey: I feel totally ridiculous. Like why do I have to be in camouflage? So the big bad quail doesn't see me?
John Beckwith: I know. Why can't we hunt something cool like a hawk or an eagle, something with some talons?
Jeremy Grey: That'd be awesome. We could get something like big game. Even like a gorilla or a rhinoceros or a fucking human being! That'll get you jacked up.
John Beckwith: That's a little heavy.
Jeremy Grey: I mean like, hunt a human being right now, "Most Dangerous Game". Like a worthy adversary. Not a human being that's armed, but a clever, a clever, human being who knows the jungle. Or the woods.

Sorry I had to after you said quail hahaha... And by the way, just because a fish has a lot of bones does not mean it doesn't taste good. Up here in the lakes, 50% of the time you'll catch pickerel/walleye, 30% you'll catch jackfish/pike and 20% is little perch. The walleye and perch are both easy to fillet and taste great, but most people throw back the jackfish because it has so many little bones that it takes forever to fillet it. Most people assume it also taste bad.. not the case. You just have to a) know how to fillet and b) know how to cook, and you can't tell the difference between jack and pickerel. It's probably the same with carp over there.

we don't eat the carp allthough the eastern europeens do, it's just plesure fishing allways catch and release, carp in the lakes in the UK are big sport and being fished for regulary the big carp are very wary and hard to catch, the biggest i've caught is 36LB which is a specimen carp in the UK,but where i'm fishing there's one in there at 48LB thats the one i've been trying to catch for the last 12 months.
johnny never tried perch but have heard they are good eating,i have tried pike they taste good:thumbsup:
