I have 4 plants groin a aerogarden 6 and I've been trying to force flower them but no buds. It's the 4th week into flowerin and the clone I had taken off of my plant I planted it outside. I'm not even tryin to flower my clone but it already has buds. Is the problem with the roots in the aerogarden? Or what? Please help I don't know if my plants are even going to ever budd!!!!!!!!!

The only thing I can think of is light leak or light timing. 12 hours of darkness is the only key to flowering.

I am planning to do an areo garden grow as well. Its nice and clean and looks pretty easy.

I have grown before iwth coco and soil in a cabinet and it went well but it was alot of work sometimes.

I understand that the areo garden isn't totally ideal but im looking for somthing simple and small. So im gonna give it a go. Is it loud? I imagine that I will hear the sound of dripping water constantly correct? I am gonna add a bit of side lighting to my Cab seeing as I have all my old stuff from my old grow boxes.

As for your plants it must be the light. Or your conditions. Are you sure your areo garden has a Soft light in it for flowering? Rember with fluros Cold light for growing and soft for flowering. I'd bet that the areo garden come with full spectrum so you should be good. Its gotta be the light or condidtions. Temps do a double check of everything.

REALLY????:wtf: REEEALLLLY? :wtf:

Allright...here we go.

1.) What nutrients are you using in your aerogarden?
2.) What is your lighting schedule?
3.) What strain are you growing?
4.) How old are your plants? how long in veg? How long in flower?
5.) What are you growing from? Seed?
6.) How powerful is the aerogarden light?

And after you answer these honestly...I would fill out the form! Then you might get some answers. Those who provide no information, get no answers.

I am having the same problem, im 12 days into Flowering & nothing so far :(

Although I have these weird growths starting (3 days into Flowering Cycle) on one side of my nodes not both & they have barely grown at all. They look like New Growth even though there is already a branch.

I think I have a High Sativa strain but not really sure, the plant doesn't have an Xmas Tree Shape & it grows fast with long thin leaves bigger then my hand.

-Im using 15-30-15 Nutrients with Micro Nutrients.
-I had my plant on a 12/12 but read that Sativas may need longer nights so im on a 11(light)/13(dark).
-Strain Unknown
-My plant is 9 weeks old in 2 days.
-Im growing from seed
-My lights are 2/250W White Fluorescents with 1/20W Grow Light.

I just hope I don't have a light leak... but then what are these weird growths? & why are they only on one side of my plant?

need pictures if possible...but how did you start you seed? more importantly how much light did it start with?

i am guessing you have a male but w/o picutres i can't say for certain!

the way you start your seed is very important...12/14 hours max during the first 3-4 weeks then gradually increase the light by an hour every week until you get to 18 on 6 off then when you cut the light back 12 hours they usually show sex fairly quickly!

this should be done with femmed seeds as well....i see way too many folks here complain about hermies and when you blast a seed with 18 or more hours of light right out of the shoot it thinks it is summer and will grow fast to tower over the girls so their flowers will pollinate the girls!

I learned this from being taught how to grow by a very reputable breeder and it is confirmed in the MMJ Bible by Jorge as well!:D

then you will have stable strains to take cuts from and minimizing herms!:smokin:

If I had a camera with a good enough macro I would take a pic. But I will see what I can do tomorrow.

Well like most Noobs its a trial & error thing. I set my lighting on 24 hour lighting until it was 4 weeks then I transferred it into an 18/6 for 2 weeks then went to a 12/12.

Honestly I wouldn't be upset if it did Hermie, then I can understand how both sexes produce. But like all growers I want a full Female.

This is just my first grow & im more curious about its life cycles to understand better for when I start making a true SOG.

-So you say a grower should start there plants on a 12/12 then gradually move up to a 18/6 until you want to start flowering at 12/12? Ill remember that.

-Also, why am I getting these growths only on one side of node intersections, is that normal? & why have they not developed in over 8 days?

Sorry... im a noob at this & im just concerned for my little baby.

hey stinky~check my bottom link it a copy out of Jorge's book detailing exactly how to get more females from seed:thumbsup:

without seeing a picture it is hard to say but sometimes they will show sex in different places along the plant as they develop!

you won't learn if you don't make a few mistakes so don't worry...you might look around the site to see if you can find any picture of others that may be similar to yours...do a search for male plants...herms...and female so you can see what all 3 definatly look like!

othar than that we can wait for a photo and you will get more input that way also....hope this helps!:hippy::hippy:

Alright I got some pics... kinda surprised how good the closeup came out!

Im beginning to think I might have a light leak somewhere, so tonight I thoroughly patched up any potentials... just hope the exhaust system still works.

After reading some into the Bible I believe this is the case as most plants Preflower at 4-6 weeks this doesn't mean its about to flower.

So I think I may have just wasted 2 weeks of Flower Time  Oh well live & learn...

Also... I think its a BOY!:gunfighter2:

Anyone have any suggestions I could try, since I cant get this plant to Flower?

-Also I just noticed the last picture only shows 8 leaves but the 9th leaf is hiding behind the far right big leaf.

yeah...one idea....kill it! definately a boy thats why he won't flower like a girl! get rid of him before he pops any pollen that may infect future grows....live and learn and best part is you have a better idea of how to start....unfortunately the lessons you remember are the ones that you have an investestment in...may your next attempt yield more girls!

Could it possibly be a Hermie?

On the opposite side of the 2nd picture, behind what you can see, is nothing. One side has these nubs & the other is blank.

Would preflowering produce both sexes at the same time if it was a Hermie?

I have read cases about Hermies that most people believe Hermies only come from Females (because they keep the females around).
But since everyone kills their males immediately they never find out Males Herm as well.

Ill try looking into how Hermies Flower, but im open to any advice.

No..a herm will show later after the plant has gone into flower making bud....the male sex comes out later to pollinate the female portion of the plant...you have definite boy..it will not make a female flower...the male finishes about 4weeks into the flower schedule so its pollen will fertilize a female plant in its 4th week of flower to make fully developed seeds for next 4-6 weeks of flower and the male dies after spitting its pollen out...so what you have is a worthless houseplant technically unless it is a super stinky male then collecting some pollen from him may not be a bad idea if you want to make seeds with another good female:jointsmile:

Hey stra8outtaWeed,

I knew I read about Male Hermies, this isn't the original thread nor the webpage I found on this subject but it does occur.

http://boards.cannabis.com/basic-growing/142443-hermaphroditic-male.html

LOL... just crossing my fingers for my plant... im looking for methods to convert males to Hermies, if I find anything useful i'll post.

The plant you have is a male. Cut it down and start over.

Im more curious about how these plants develop at the moment, I want to see it go through all its life cycles first, regardless of sex.

Never seen one grow before, & im pretty good with plants :greenthumb:

While im prepping my SOG this is my Experiment, so in the Future I will chop all the males. This is more for getting my life cycles, lighting & nutrients better understood.

Plus reading & learning from experienced growers is priceless. Ive also been reading "The Growers Bible" as suggested by stra8outtaWeed, so hopefully when I start cloning & recycling ill have a good idea what to expect.

But thanks for the info... Keep it Green!

Don't mean to Double Post! Admin told me I waited to long to Edit...

Ive been reading into Herming Males & found an interesting tool growers use to cause increased hormones in plants called Ethephon. No idea if this will work with cannabis though LOL. But ive found some experiments on full male plants causing them to fruit.

Also found another Thread here in the forums about a male Hermie:

Hey, ive just detected white hairs growing from my main tip & all my branch tips!

Its a Girl! or a Hermie...

The nubs from my pictures located at the connecting nodes are still a complete mystery to me, they have not done anything so far :what:

stra8outtaWeed
03-28-2010, 11:07 AM
for safety sake pluck them off...and watch for any others that may develop...glad to hear this...i am as surprised as you:D

but seriously pluck those little buggers off that you showed in the picture and watch for others...then she will not pollinate herself and go into seed production killing the yield!

Thanks for the quick Reply! I just logged off & decided to check this thread one last time.

Q: If I pluck these nubs will new growth come back in its place?

Also im as Shocked as you, last night I saw to little hairs on one of my branches... since I was totally convinced I had a male I took it as weird new growth. But then tonight boom! it was all over the plant, every tip, except un-matured branches.

Ill take some pics when the hairs get a bit more noticeable ;)

Since you've been through this before, are the hairs a sign of preflower or is this the real flowering stage deal?

stra8outtaWeed

you'll just have to watxh those nubs and if they grow out a little like a little football on the end of short stem keep plucking them off...that is the plant trying to make a male flower....keep your eye out for em and don't let any flower or you will be getting seeds!

yes the pistils are the plant showing its female side so you can start flowering it ...12 hours dark and 12 hours of light

Sweet! Ill do that, thanks again for all the Help stra8outtaWeed!

But im already 2 weeks into 12/12, im just curious if this means the plant has begun the stage or is it still preflowering. What is the real hint that its truly in the flowering stage?

you're in it...so keep it goin and good luck...i hope she turns out some sticky greasy dank for ya!

are you using in flower nutes? Botanicare makes a one part soil formula called Pure Blend Pro that is mostly organic or dyna-grow is the synthetic one parter that will work also...keep it simple and continue to learn...you have the interest so you will do fine!

LOL not used to this forum yet, I didnt notice you replied until I saw page 1-2.

Thanks! I hope so too, but im not holding to much seeing as this is my first. I expected problems from the start. Though so far just a lot of questions rather then problems. Im sure when it comes to harvesting things will get bumpy. All the info I have read on it sounds complicated.

Im using a cheap & I mean cheap ($5) Bloom Fertilizer 15-30-15 since I started my 12/12, before that I was using a 30-15-15. I don't remember the name but it has Micro Nutrients as well, its identical to Miracle Grows Bloom Fert just cheaper :D

Im on a tight budget right now, hence the reason I started to Grow my own & using only Fluorescents.

Usually when I get into something I take it pretty serious, ive spent countless days tending to my little baby & learning tons on the way.

Hopefully one day I can start an SOG, these LED growers are catching more & more of my attention lately. I might look into those in the future, I was reading if you use a Red/Blue/Orange Array Setup your plant looks pitch black, meaning its absorbing nearly all the light!

Ive gotta get to bed, but I do appreciate all your help! Hope to see you around stra8outtaWeed.

Keep it Green!
