Hair test check?

I have a hair test sometime after May 15th. In preparation for this test I stopped smoking on March 1st. I'm wondering if there's any way I could get a test done by a doctor or something at that time to see if it's been long enough, because I have the choice of taking the test at a later time. I'd just like to be able to start smoking again as soon as possible. Also would this be ridiculously expensive?

Anyplace the does regular drug testing should be able to do this. Don't know how much it costs. There were some test kits that you could pickup at drug stores, take your own hair sample and ship it off to the lab. Don't know how much they cost.

Bumping this thread with another question. I'm planning on doing one of the tests that I can send into a lab just before may 15, but my question is, if I cut my hair to about an inch long would I be safe since hair grows about a half inch per month? I'm told I need to have at least a half inch for when I take the test.
