Hello

I have 2 closet's in my large master bathroom. They are both identical. I want to use one for normal storage and the other to grow in. The space is 7-8 feet tall, and 4.4 feet by 4.4 feet. Anyway my question is, when i take a shower will the steam from the shower ruin my grow? Is there a way to deal with the steam so i can use this nice size closet? Also what strength of HPS do you recommend for a closet that size?

Thanks

I don;t think the steam will ruin things... it will certainly cause short-term humidity and tempurture spikes (mostly humidity) though.

I;m not sure if humidity spikes would stress the plants and increase your chance of males & hermies or not, I;m sure somebody here knows the answer to that though.

As for light... i've never used HPS, but from what I've read, I;m guessing people are going to recomend 600watt... a 600watt HPS i believe produces ~90,000 lumens, so with a 4.4' x 4.4' area, that would be 4648 lumens per sq. foot

general rule of thumb is to aim for 5000 lumens per sq. foot... but like all rules, there are alot of variables that make them flexible or breakable.

I haven;t seen what your cabinet looks like, but remember that you need to keep the cabinet itself vented... from the sounds of things, this is some kind of built in cabinet in your bathroom? do you really want to be cutting/drilling holes in it to vent it? You could just leave the door on it open during the veg stage I suppose, but when you goto 12/12 light schedule it needs to remain absolutely dark inside... even tiny openings around the cabinets doors that leak light into the cabinet can screw things up, so you'll run into vent problems then if you dont have something built in... you wouldn;t need something super super powerful, since the light would be off while the door is closed, which is the source of most of the heat... but you still need to get fresh air into it.

The hot showers that I take never seemed to bother my plants at all...
