View Full Version : Trichromes before showing sex?

Hey all, I'm a first time grower, growing some unknown hybrids from seed that I got from a friend. I've had my plants under 12/12 for about 2 weeks and I haven't seen any signs of sex, but today I was taking some close ups to see if I could see any pistils. In the process I noticed that the most vigorous of my plants seems to be developing trichromes already. Is it normal to show trichromes before showing sex... not complaining, just curious. I've got three plants in the closet, this one and another of the same pheno which seem indica dominant and a third which seems sativa dominant. This is the only one that seems to be developing trichromes on the fan leaves. Just idle curiosity...

Just a frosty strain is my guess. I have some strain that had trichs as seedling like above. They were frosty as hell when they flowered. Def not a bad thing!

Two weeks and no sex yet? I've never had a seedling that didn't show preflowers in 5 to 7 days. Am I missing something??

upon further consideration it's only been 11 days as of today... a sad combination of impatience and not working too much lately, but yeah still no clear sex

I'm still surprised that 11 days in 12/12 and not flowering yet. No pistils or sacs visible?

well I guess for a couple of days now I've seen bits that could go either way, but lack of prior experience and lack of proper magnification may chaulk this one up to user error, I don't see pistils yet, nor do I see clusters, nor do I even see what appears to be "balls on sticks" to borrow the description of male parts from another site. Plus I've seen so many posts that that say that it's hard to tell one way or the other. If I get a chance I'll post picks later. I'm not too worried about yanking the boys or whatever, but I'd like to stop waisting my time if they're all boys.

AS of today I have one definite female, one very suspiciously male and one that I'm still not sure.
