Hey dudes, i've got a mini plant growing in my closet growbox. (Mazar -50/50)
It's been 3 days since the seed germinated and i'm pretty psyched about it :)
The 1st leaf has come out and it's finally shot out of the soil. It's been growing exceptionally good!
I'm using 4 23watt CFL's, keeping the temperature at about 76 with the lights going 24/7 at the moment.
I'm going to put it on 18/6 when it hits 2 weeks, and once it flowers, i'm going to add the 5th 23watt CFL making the flowering better.
I've put dryer sheets in the growbox to make it less moist/kill smell.
Here are some pics

"...once it flowers..."
do you mean, "when i decide to flower the plant, i'll add another CFL?"
in my opinion, and probably many others, switching from 24/0 to 18/6 is worthless and unnecessary. i guess if you've run into power consumption issues, maybe. but 4 (or even 5) CFLs aren't costing you much to run, even 24 hours a day. if perhaps you are confused, your plant WILL NOT FLOWER under 18/6 lighting.
oh, and also - your soil looks like it has poor drainage. i'm a hydro guy myself but just my two cents.

and check the color temp on your cfl's. you need two different sets of cfl's, one for veg, and one for flower. your cfl's look like they might be the 2700-3000k. these are ok for flower but not veg. however if they are don't stress yet, they'll be ok for a couple of days till you can get some. here's a link to a sweet thread that tells all about lights(simple enough for me to understand, lol).

Jonathan has weed, wether you get to finish it or not is up to you. Mazar, thats an interesting smoke, I personally thought it was a smooth smoke with a taste of lemon and blueberry hints. Gotta be the clearest head smoke I ever had, tends to grow pretty fast too, but when your waiting for it to finish it seems like death is near, and you wanna pick it ever chance you get, lol.

ok thanks for the support.
I have made a vent system where the humidity can stay low and make the plant dry up quicker. And yes i'm adding the 5th light once i decide the flower (4-5th week).
I also hear about people saying others plants are stretching. I just want to know how do you classify stretched.
Here's my plant: [attachment=o216233]
Is she stretching?
It's been 2 days after the 1st picture and my plant's been doing good.
keep yall updated!

you look ok right now, just keep your light as close as possible, 2-3 in. you'll know they're are stretched when they look skinny and top heavy, like they could just fall over.

a couple of things...
do you have 2 plants growing there in the same pot? thats not a good idea as the roots from both plants will get tangled together and they will compete with one another causing one to have stunted growth... also if you discover one is a male down the road it will be impossible to pull out its roots without killing the other one... and if you just cut it down and leave the roots, the roots will rot and possibly kill the other one.
other thing is that you have your seedlings in a rather large pot for the size of them, if you put them in really large pots off the bat the roots will stretch out early on and not fill the pot properly which will make them much less effecient... theres a threard in one of the forums thats a really good overview about transplanting and why its important, but i can;t find it at the moment

hey thanks for the support.
I removed the 1st seed away from the pot so it's 1 seed to each pot. and i cant really do much about the plant being in too big of a pot since it's growing big already.

Does she look old enough for some LST?

No I wouldn't LST until the plant is big enough to be tied down to the side of the pot. Probably in about 2 weeks or so you can start! Just depend on how fast it grows....Just keep posting pictures and in the following weeks, someone will be kind enough to say, "Hey! LST those bitches!!!" Well in a kind way LoL :jointsmile:

I messed up.
The plant was nute burned on the last pic so i flushed it 2 days after.
Most of the bigger leaves began to curl
It is now slowly looking more healthy.
(I put my nose next to the plant and it smells a lil skunk!)
[attachment=o217500]
And the inverse duct tape on the bottom is a gnat catcher, it works well and catches loads of these buggers for me.

here's a week and a half later, i flushed her once and she started to grow good again, but i saw signs of more nute burns so i cut off the dead leaves and flushed it twice more.
[attachment=o218128]
I'm already seeing a failure in this 1st grow, but we'll see what comes out of it :(

Here's a test bitch that i grew about 3 weeks ago, she's healthy as darn so i'm LSTing her, Woot!

i fed them some 1:10 Urine water for a nitrogen boost, as some of the bottom leaves are yellowing hardcore.

It's been 1 week since last update,
She's been in flowering for 4 days, still no signs of sex.
[attachment=o218751]
Here's the test bitch that i LST'd on the last post, she's been EXPLODING! i have a new set up for the veg stage, a tiny ass box with 2x 26Watt Daylight CFLs and 2x 14watt daylight CFLs.

been almost 2 weeks,
the 1st plant is a girl! :):):)
she's been in flowering for 2 and a half weeks now and about 6 thick distinct pistils are showing.
[attachment=o219614]
Here's the other test bitch that i put in flowering for 3 days. We had to flower early due to technical problems but it should be fine.
She's been suffering heat stress for a week but is now fixed.

YEAHHHHHH GIRL!

First pic looks quite stretched. Either the lights are not sufficient or too far away. If bottom leaves start yellowing, it can also be from lack of light, not Nitrogen. :jointsmile:

hey thanks for the reply,
in the 1st pic, i have 3x 23watt 2600k CFLS and 1 46 watt 2600kCFL.
(1600x3) + (3000) = 7800 Lumens for a 18x19 Inch box which is about 4"8 Tall.
According to the average lumen count, it seems to be more than enough.
and the bottom leaves are the same color as the tops.
Either this is a sativa plant or something else is wrong.

How close are the bulbs to the plant?
While the lumens math works out, it really doesn't work in reality with cfl's. I have yet to see a successful grow with less than 200w or so of cfl's, the best have 300w or more. Even then the growth is slow.
Anyways, the plant is stretching for light, which makes me think that the lights could be a little closer, as close as possible without burning them. You've done a pretty good job so far with what you have, keep it up... reading, investing, and you'll get the hang of it :thumbsup:
Oh yeah, and the yellowing leaves part I mentioned was from earlier, when you used urine as a fert. Personally I'd stick to cannabis-specific nutrient programs, like Fox Farm or Canna.

ot dood, thanks for the opinion.
I'll lower the lights a bit & i'll add 2 more 23watt bulbs to the lower/center part of the plant.
This should prevent stretching from getting anywhere. :)

hey thanks for the reply,
in the 1st pic, i have 3x 23watt 2600k CFLS and 1 46 watt 2600kCFL.
(1600x3) + (3000) = 7800 Lumens for a 18x19 Inch box which is about 4"8 Tall.
if you did add those 23W, assuming they are 1600 lumens, then you still fall a tad short of this.
10,000 / 2.375 = 4210.53
According to the average lumen count, it seems to be more than enough.
and the bottom leaves are the same color as the tops.

(:
average lumen count?
are you referring to 5000 lumens per sq ft?
if so you aren't quite there. if my math is correct.....
18" = 1.5' and 19" = 1.58' so 1.5' x 1.58' = 2.375 sq ft.
7800 lumens / 2.375 sq ft = 3284.21 lumens per sq ft.
even so, that doesn't really have anything to do with your plant stretching so much as light placement does. for CFLs you should be between 1-4".
where did your mazar seed come from?
mazar is 80% indica. it's a F1 (afghani (mazar-i-shariff)) crossed with a skunk #1.
you shouldn't give nutes until you have alternating nodes. ~4-5.
it looks like you have a pH problem (as shown in the picture with the canoeing leaves).
do you know what your pH is?
that's all i can think of at the moment.

Hey shake,
The pH of my soil is 6.8 at the moment, i'm trying to slowly drop it using 1:20 vinegar water solution.
+ The 'mazar' seeds i got are bagseeds that my dealer sold to me and he claimed that it was mazar. I guess they arent now :\

no worries. i use aquarium pH down as my tap water is over 8.0. it's only about $3 a bottle and it lasts quite a long time.
they could be mazar, just keep those lights close.
good growing.
