You're asking for commonsense from the government. Ain't going to happen.
I think they ought to task Lattes more heavily. Anybody dumb enough to pay $5 for a cup of coffee shouldn't mind paying another couple bucks in tax.lol

Commonsense should tell them spending trillions isn't a good solution to get the economy going again too. Commonsense however, isn't the governments strong point. Aside from our military, I don't think the federal government has gotten much right since the early 1900's. Income tax was nonexistent until 1913.
It should be up to each state to determine if cannabis use will be legalized, in what instances (medical and/or recreational), etc.

A Flat Federal Income tax is the only fair tax. IMO.
You don't need a 931 page tax codebook.... you make $70,000? ...pay 20% flat tax.....you make below a certain amount?..no tax
..( no sense kicking a man when he's down?...)
NO.... if's, ands or but's!...it would help us..."less, that upwardly mobile; folks...
Everybody shares the burden....equally...:twocents:....:stoned:

DutchPimp, what about the households who's disposable income is less than 5% of their total income; in english that means after living expenses they are left with squat. As opposed to a household with a $1,000,000 net income, and $500,000 in net expenses: this is a clear shifting of the burden to lower income households.
In the situation described above, income mobility, the ability to move up the income ladder, will be greatly diminished as savings/credit are inproportionally fixated on the "everybody is equal" theory.
Everybody is not equal, and ill prove it. Here is how: I am not in the NBA...

Yes, but $70k is exactly how much different than $69k? Similarly, lets say i make $77K/year with a projected 41 hour work week: what is my incentive to work that additional hour that does not get paid to me via taxes, but creates a greater revenue scenario to the company i work for?
It is a nice concept, but you have to consider the unintended consequences of such actions.
