Hey all!
Rep. Earl Jones introduced 2 bills to the NC General Assembly on 9 Apr 09 to legalize cannabis for medicinal purposes in NC:thumbsup:. You can read about it here Contact Officials - NORML (http://capwiz.com/norml2/issues/alert/?alertid=13116251) There are also links to the text of the bills and a form you can fill out to contact your representatives and encourage them to support the bills. It's time for NC to recognize the importance of patients having safe/legal access to cannabis. Please contact your representatives!
Thanks!
Pete

Just a quick update on the bills. The General Assembly voted last night and the bills have passed the "Reading Phase" whatever that is. Now they have been referred to the Health Committee for debate. So far so good!

No new news...just trying to keep this post on the 1st page. If you haven't contacted your reps, do it now. Also contact Speaker of the House Hackney and Chairman of the Health Committee Rep. Bob England and urge them to support these bills.

Living in the bible belt here in NC i seriously doubt we will have legal medicinal use in the next 8 years or more. I am all for it and made several contacts with our backwords senators and so forth. We have a few things going against us here... Tobacco does not want MJ here cuz they are afraid it might hit them in the wallet and that is just non-sence. Our female govenor is a total idiot and will never sign it into law. This state is to full of older republican voters. My self i would love to see it happen, but i assure you that i will have my good bud regardless of what these older bible folks want for NC. Honestly i see the prices the folks in Cali are paying for bud and i assure you i get awsome bud that is just as close in quality as they buy from the dispensary thiefs in there state. I have never payed more than 150 bux an OZ. for awsome red haired bud in my area. Hopefully by the time bud is legal for us who suffer from chronic pain or terrible illnesses somebody puts a stop to the price gouging i see going on in other states. The only thing i see myself doing diferantly if the law does pass is growing my own stash with out being paranoid of the law. I am an old timer and all i can say is hopefully bud does become legal here for medicinal use or any use for that matter but i just don't see it. Who cares where the bud you smoke comes from indoor grow houses or not. The thing that bothers me the most is you folks in Cali make up stupid names for your bud to get a top price for it and that is crazy. I have to admit you guys in cali are smart to get out and vote and make things happen. You must stop those crazy prices!!!! Put a stop to those inflated prices. You voted for bud so i am sure you can get better prices!!! Bud is to easy to grow to pay crazy prices, i know for a fact :) In short order, i hope i am wrong and NC gets this MMJ passed. I assure you that people like me will toke on some awsome bud with it being legal or not. I been growing as a hobby for yrs and i assure you I would never screw a friend and charge 350-500 bux an OZ for shit i call purple BS..lmao

MEDICAL MARIJUANA NOT ON PERDUE'S AGENDA
Gov. Beverly Perdue is not in favor of legalizing the use of marijuana for medical purposes. Perdue was asked about the issue Friday at a forum for nonprofits held in Raleigh. The questioner said medical marijuana could produce jobs and tax income and provide relief to sick people. "Right now," Perdue said, "I don't see any way I would support medical marijuana. "Right now," she continued, "every child I look at who's had a problem getting off pot ... I worry about things like that."

And every adult who continues to espouse a falsehood is just as bad, if not worse then, the person who gives marijuana to children. And you wonder why the country is as fucked up as it is. Its because elected officials refuse to face the reality. They create the criminals by stealing the personal freedoms given us by the constitution. Not one single clause of the constitution dictates or defines morality or behavior, but clearly states the citizen's right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Yet it is continually denied by those who are supposed to protect our freedoms and right to smoke marijuana just as much as a person has the right to drink alcohol or smoke tobacco. :twocents:
What they do to innocent people is insane and morally corrupt.

I'm sorry but if you can find good bud in NC 150 a zip then can you pllleeasseee give me the contact. I've gone everywhere throughout NC Boone, Charlotte, Raleigh, Rocky Mount, and even towards wilmington just to get some bud and have been pretty disappointed almost everytime. Not because the quality was garbage it was because If it actually was good bud they wanted 400 dollars for a zip making it pretty expensive for the amount that i smoked. Where as in NY i could get something for 225 that will satisy me pretty well. Shame shame shame

Shouldn't RJ Reynolds and the rest be pretty excited about this? I mean, who's better-equipped to start growing huge crops of weed RIGHT NOW than the tobacco industry?
Wouldn't they be proud to grow something with medicinal purposes, rather than something which just goes into products known to kill people?
You think?

I will support the legalization in NC but i dont see it happening due to elders being against it. Although i also dont know where in the world VALIUM10 is getting bud from in NC that is not brown/seed infested/flat/and weak, for 150 a zip. Usually it would go for 350+ and its never any better than what i am used to getting for 200-300 a zip

Valium is growing his own that's how it's so cheap and i bet he sells it for around 350.
RJ Reynolds only knows how to sell leaf. They never grew shit. They just ride on the backs of hard working farmers. Bud scares them.
People All of those that sit in office now that are not on board with this need to be voted out. It's just that simple. And Miss Bev should quit giving POT to her kids but that is the way to keep the kids needing BEV to make their lifes better by telling them what is wrong and right. I've always needed some one to tell me what's right because they know what's best for me cause I sure don't.

mmj has been passed in north carolina. bill 1380 helps people like me get medicine in a safe and reliable way. the problem is that the bill is so new and to be honest, unexpected, that there arent legal dispensaries readily available to every patient. and by the way i get amazing material for a mere 60 an egg. times are tough but apparently you fine folks need some help hell we all do! im currently looking in to beginning a co-op/dispensary in the charlotte area. any suggestions?

NC has introduiced two bills for medicinal marijuana. HB 1380 and 1383. Both passed their first reading and were referred to the Health Committee where they have been stalled.
The chance for passage this year is over as the Legislature is adjurned.

 Well, at least this will be a hopefull waiting period for sensible NC residents knowing the fact that a natural herb is 100% better than all manmade pharmaceuticals combined. Marijuana has no detrimental side effects other than a giddy attitude. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. All you have to do is mention it and everyone starts laughing.

Well at least after 140 years the Reb's control both houses in NC.
It was not on Bev Perdue's aggenda and she did not want to address it.
We are in a waiting period and now that things have changed it will get done this year but that doesn't mean we should stop pushing. Write or call your senator or congressman. We the people need to make this happen.
You all know that MMJ has been allowed here for a very long time to extreme cases and is provided to patients by thier doctors.
If that is the case then I see no reason to wait. We have a world full of Veterans here who need it badly as the Pharm's are killing them worse than the Enemy.
The Veterans commity has OK'ed MMJ as treatment and many bene's are being restored to vet's that were cut off because of using MMJ.
DON'T DO IT FOR ME DO IT FOR THE ONES THAT FIGHT FOR YOU.
