Should I purchase a VaporGenie?

I'm curious; I've been looking at the VaporGenie for some time now, and it looks like a great accessory. It might even be my main pipe once I start again. However, I have a few questions.

First of all, is it reliable/durable? Can I expect it to work in a year's time? Does the filter ever die (their site says it never needs replacing)?

Does it actually vaporize all of the active compounds you normally get out of smoking? That includes the THC, Cannabidiol, and other Cannabinoids.

Is it as effective as other commercial vaporizers once you get the hang of it? I mean, so long as my technique is correct, will it be pure vapor?

I have done research and read reviews (most of which answer my questions), but I'm incredibly careful so I'm just looking for a little more reassurance. Sorry if my post seems superfluous.

Reliable?.....yes

Work in a years time?......yes

Does the filter ever die?.........no, as long as you don't get soot on it, but even if you do, you can either wash it out or torch-flame it out.

Does it vape all the compounds that you get from smoking?.....Most all of it, depending on the temp.

Is it as effective as other commercial vapes if used properly?...yes, but it won't taste quite as good as a non-butane vape.

I intend on buying a beeswax wick, which reminds me. In addition to the VaporGenie, has anyone used these before?

I have not used a VaporGenie, does it use Butane? If it does, I would be inclined to get one heated by infrared or with a temp. on it. Even without it, you will experiment and find the right temp for yourself. I found that I get hi when I don't put it up too high and less tar in tube (if it is tube type for delivery).

Anytime you Vape instead of smoke, it is better for you and tastes so much better! Smoother on the throat and lungs too!

I have not used a VaporGenie, does it use Butane?It's a pipe vape, so you use a lighter. Because of this, it has more of a learning curve than an electric model. You have to learn how long to apply the flame, as well as how long and hard to draw on it.


I think it is vaporzilla (or another type) that has a lifetime warrenty. It's Vapezilla (and Super Vapezilla), and that company actually provides a lousy warranty. You get lifetime on labor (big deal) but no warranty at all on the parts, and that's where the $ is as far as repairs.

the only complaint is sooting up the filter. but using a calibri-type lighter seemed to reduce this problem.

and if you get the filter clogged, you can still use it as a pipe.

I've had mine for almost 2 years. i don't use it daily anymore as I ingest more now, and have a bamboo pipe I love, but I still use it often.

They're just not hot enough to completely burn all the carbon. A torch lighter burns clean (no soot produced) but the higher heat isn't recommended for the Genie-too easy to overcook. But you can use a torch lighter to get rid of the soot on the Genie's ceramic filter. That high temp, pinpoint flame will do a good cleaning job on the filter.

yeah, using a torch-type lighter I ended up igniting the herb... it took more finess, but for me worked well -- until the lighter quit on me :wtf:

btw, the soot problem ONLY happens if you let the flame of a conventional lighter dip too far down the bowl. I did that once and got a bit of soot on one edge of the filter. It's slowly going away just with regular use without using boiling water or a torch flame to get it out.

Soot won't be an issue as long as you don't let the flame dip any more than about an eighth of an inch inside the bowl.

Using a torch lighter on a regular basis is kinda tough because it's too hard, if not impossible, to regulate the flame and not combust your bud.
