I've got some seedlings on the go now. I plan to keep them outdoors until they are about 3ft tall or just to hard to hide in my vege garden. I was going to put them onto cfls when I bring them inside. Should I expect any problems with the transition from natural light to cfls, or will the plants just adapt?

I don't really think you should have a problem doing that,Won't get as much bud off the plant, as you would have outside and make sure you got the right color temp. And you gonna need decent amount of cfl's or cfl watts.:D

if you let them get 3 ft tall outside (they will or won't have started budding depending on time of year) then you are gonna need more than some CFLs to finish them. CFLs will not get much penetration. you can combat this by strategically placing CFLs everywhere. top, bottom, sides etc.
or you could just start them later in the season and let them finish outside. so that way they won't out grow their hide-out!

When you bring them indoors you may encounter a couple of issues.
a) any plant grown outdoors has mold and mildew spors. you may devlop Powdery Mildew or especially bud rot (does not require buds) more easily.
b) you will be bringing in any pests from outside. outdoors pests have their own pests. you bring them in you're putting them in a "controlled" environment possibly without nature's balancers. anyway, you might have pest problems.
above from experience. ;)

I did this (refer sig). Left them outside until 1 week into flowering and they we're all around 3ft, then chucked them under a 600w hps cause i didn't want them to get stolen :stoned: there going very well
