Hi All,

First post, been lurking around for a couple of weeks now. I have gathered so much information from this site.

Thanks to all.

One question, there is alot of speculation, so just want to make sure.

I have a 250w MH and a 250w HPS.

Would it be better to run both at the same time during veg and flowering?
Or
Should I veg only under the 250w MH and then when i switch to flowering exchange the lamp to the 250w HPS?
Or
Should I veg under 250w MH and then add the 250w HPS only when flowering. In other words both lights running during flowering stage?

Does the plant require both red and blue spectrum throughout its life?

Thanks a million for any replies.

Quite a few people are running both during flower. They even sell bulbs know that have both incorporated into one bulb. The MH alone should be fine for veg.

The MH is best for vegging as the HPS can cause some stretching. Typically people will use only MH for veg, and HPS for flower. However, I use an HPS from start to finish, and I've seen people use an MH from start to finish also. If you have two ballasts, I would just run both the MH and HPS at the same time throughout the grow. If you only have one ballast, then use the MH for veg and the HPS for flowering. Always better to be running 500w of light instead of 250w... Optimum IMO would be two MH's for veg, and two HPS's for flowering. :twocents:
