Hi folks, I'm new, live in WA and have a few questions.
Firstly, how much does it cost to get the doctor's recommendation? I've seen $200 on one of the threads here but not sure if that is the going rate.
Secondly, in your opinions, which is better medicine, Indica or Sativa strains?
Thirdly, if I get my card, does that mean I can grow for myself?
Are there any clinics or Doctors around Tacoma that provide this service?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Sorry if all this has been answered before.

First of all, welcome.. I'm from WA too. I have heard $200.00 as well so I think you might be right, although it might vary. It's hard to tell which is better, depending on what you want to use it for.. A lot of the strains are a cross between Indica and Sativa too.. If you get your card yes you can grow for yourself if you stay within the legal limits.
Here is the address to a clinic in WA, it's called the THCF clinic.

Peace.

You may definitely grow for yourself!!!
Stay within State limits and you should never have a problem.
You may also designate a provider!!!
Take a look at our state laws on this subject.
As far as the best medical strain, I would go with a Hybrid!
Just my opinion though!
Good Luck!!

Things to watch out for:
Joining pot clubs, pot organizations or dispensaries can get you caught up in a rico act investigation. An Informant can sign a sealed statement against you, that will be sent to a federal grand Jury.Your Dr will have to be paid to testify,so will a lawyer.
The law is a disgrace. You think you are going to be able to grow your own and just be left alone, yet the odds are against you.
There is a constant effort to round up patients, and get them into the judicial system so they can feed the cogs and wheels of the system.
There are many pot docs out there that sign relatively few patients yet end up in court a lot..It is a racket. The Dr gets 2,000,the head of the clinic gets expenses and fees. These people are low life bastages.
One guy in particular thinks he is a movement leader. What a fucking joke. This movement leader could lead you anywhere but jail or prison. He thought he could run an underground MMJ clinic without a business license. They should have been sued and chased the fuck out of Washington.
Instead he just changes the name of the clinic and sets up himself and the same DR .Their clinic is the worst of the century.
This guy talks a great game..but in the end that is all he does is fucking talk.look at me I am the movement leader..join me to sell clones and baked goods ..both illegal..and risk yourself.
200 people are owed 10,000 bucks by the Dr and the "movement leader" for failing to get a fucking business liocense. He should be sued and required to pay everyone for his stupid ass mistake.
Until he and the Navy Dr. does he is nothing more than a fucking weasil.

So from what I've read here, it's going to cost at least $200 to get my card.
What in the world for? Legal defense funds?
I will be honest, I'm totally confused as to who is legit and who isn't because of all the fussing amongst the various groups.
So let me test my understanding....
I go to my regular doctor and am being treated for (insert condition here). I get my records for being treated for this condition and take it to either the place in Bellevue, the place in Olympia, or the place in Seattle, they look at my records and fill out some form and I pay them. Does that about cover it?
Could my own doctor fill out the form and I be done with it and not have to deal with these organizations? Or are these organizations and their doctors the only ones who can fill out the form?

Yes, your own doctor can do it if they are willing. Most however, aren't, that's why there is the specialization. Dealer's choice (as in cards) as they say nowadays.

Forgive me for asking so many questions. I do apologize.
Gypski, lets say I have a doc that agrees that mmj would be a good treatment for migraines. Is there a special form that they fill out for the state or what is actually the "authorization form"? Is this a form I need to take to my doctor or what?

Migraines are a qualified illness. Here is the form I have. Take it to your doctor and have him fill it out. Its also good to have a record of your qualifying condition attached. Its just as good as any other and has no time restriction like some of the doctors are doing.:jointsmile:

Being the way things are in posting contact information, if you seek, you will find. Once found, things can be discussed once those requirements are met. I wish it were different but......................
Say what??? LOL

During all the reading I've been doing, I saw that there "is no list of mmj friendly doctors" kept.
Would it be against the rules here to start one?
