Hello this is my first post. Thanks in advance for any replies. I've been doing a lot of reading to educate myself to grow. I will have enough money to build a room soon and would like to advice. unfortunately I have to use my garage. I want to build a room in the garage. Here are my questions.

1. What dimensions should I build my flowering room? I can have 6 plants max.

2. I'm concerned about thieves. I don't want the outside wall to be drywall because one could easily cut through that. Any ideas on what type of wall material to put up?

3. I'm also concerned about light shining through the door. Any ideas on how to seal a door so no light shines through?

4. What's the most efficient way to set up the plants and lights? I was thinking three on each side. That way I can walk in the middle.

I'm building this room from scratch so anything goes! I'm willing to put some money into it. Thanks.

I'm kind of new here myself, but will offer what I've learned thus far...

Garages are not the best place to host a grow. If you spend some time scouring the FAQs, you will learn more. Temperature and humidity are difficult to control, depending on your location, and stealth and secuity are a concern.

Given that you looking at six plants, in my very inexperienced and humble opinion I would suggest perhaps considering a ready-made grow cabinet. It addresses all the issues you spoke of, and is pretty much self-contained.

I expect the more-experienced people will be along to offer good advice. Take your time planning this out before laying out any cash. I spent many, many hours reading and thinking and reading some more. So much to learn and understand...

Good luck with your grow. :smokin:

You should watch the first dvd in that link, it will show you how to build a complete "grow room" from beginning to end....Really easy to understand actually! GOOD LUCK!!

P.S. Use the last post by me, some of the youtube links are broken and don't work :wtf:

1. What dimensions should I build my flowering room? I can have 6 plants max.
Decide what size you wnat to use for your final pot, and do the math.
If you are going to use a T5 fluorescent fixture, make sure it's at least 4 1/2 feet long, or fixture wont fit inside.
Bigger and taller is better. (for air circulation, growlight positioning, headroom and temperature control) The tighter the space, the more difficult it becomes when moving, watering...the shorter the space, the shorter you'll have to keep the plants.

2. I'm concerned about thieves. I don't want the outside wall to be drywall because one could easily cut through that. Any ideas on what type of wall material to put up?
Don't let anyone know...and they won't know to cut through the drywall. If worried about your friends ripping you off...then it's time to get a new set of friends. Can you get to the growroom (garage) without an audience? Your repeated trips to the garage won't necessarily go unnoticed, if you can't go from the house directly into the garage.

3. I'm also concerned about light shining through the door. Any ideas on how to seal a door so no light shines through? Depends on door, the need for stealth, growroom design... Can you build a cabinet that, even if the garage door is open, is a mystery to all onlookers? Keeping it stealthy is a good way to keep your freedom, in most cases.

4. What's the most efficient way to set up the plants and lights? I was thinking three on each side. That way I can walk in the middle. Depends on growroom design, lights, temperatures...

Is smell an issue? How about temperatures?
Exhaust fan up top to remove heat, intake hole (no fan) twords the bottom, allow room for lights, fan(s) and you to work in. Will have to lightproof both openings, too.

If you've never grown cannabis (especially indoor) then you need to (IMO) watch as many grow videos as much as possible.

The above suggestion of Cervantes' videos(s) is right on, but he/it is not the only one out there - and by far not the one with the most complete info - or easiset to follow- if you're starting from step one - IE - never having done it before.

So here's my suggestion. Download/watch the streams/or buy the Cervantes' dvds/videos. He has two of them, I own both. They're both good, and definately worth watching. In fact - you should for all the info contained therein

I also own (made, produced, and distributed by High Times) "Ready Set Grow". There are two in the serires. The y cover a lot of ground. Indoor, Outdoor, Hydro, Organics...everything from Seed to Hash.

Another good set is a series called "See More Buds". This is a (seemingly) one man production.

The first DVD/Video he shows a potential grower "How to grow 15 pounds in 60 days" or someting like that - can't remember exactly.

Despite the fact that you may not want grow nearly that amount - and for the (obvious) purpose of making a big profit....it still is chock full of good info.

The Second in the series (and for the most part, as well the third) he shows a variety of personally run grow rooms (one of which is set up by a medical grower) coming in all shapes and sizes - and critques them all.

This is good info because you sere several different room setups. And most importantly - it can show you a few things NOT to do - or rather - to avoid doing as the case may be

Lastly - I would reccomend a vid that I personally just came across a few months ago, and I think as far as showing a "Newbie" how to set up a room and grow indoors - start to finish - from scratch - this is the simplest and easiest one to follow -

Its by a guy called "Mr. Green" and he made a video called "I Grow Chronic"

Frankly - I would reccomend this one first - especially if youve never investigated the ins and outs of growing indoors, much less started an indoor grow room on your own

This guy makes the most simple easy to follow video Ive seen yet, from start to scratch. But - he covers everything you REALLY NEED - essentials. And he explains it - frankly so a child could understand.

Start there and branch on to the more "advanced" or detailed turotials.

Thats the advice I offer.

All these videos can be viewed online, purchased, and/or downloaded via torrents for free - if youre a pirate like me.

Good Luck and Cheers

Jay

Haha. No. I requested to set a new one and when I did that, it still wouldn't let me log in. I tried that twice, got frustrated, then made this new one. Good eye.
