Crawlspace Ventelation

Ok, I have a friend who is going to be using a closest for his grown. The ceiling of the closet has an opening into a small crawl space above, which isn't big enough to actually crawl around in, but holds the ventilation system for the house. My idea is to hook the exhaust for the grow room (will be a squirrel cage fan attached to the light probably) directly to the crawl space, where it will then be pushed through an active carbon filter and into the open crawl space. :stoned:

My concern is if the rest of the crawlspace is airtight (Im not sure if it is or not), air pressure will build up until it eventually is forced back into the closet/grow room. If it isnt air tight, then the air will probably leak back into the house through the ventilation system or other holes, which may or may not be a bad thing depending on how well the carbon filter works...

If anyone has any knowledge or advice to offer for ventilation in this area it would be appreciated. :jointsmile:

Right now Im trying to think of a way I can test where the air will go if it is forced up into the crawl space...

PS. Ive also considered hooking the exhaust/intake directly to a window or outside. But with the way the room is set up, its just not possible to do effectively. So this is really the only option...

ya well if the crawl space has no exhaust its useless. you can hook it up to the house's vent system just make sure you're hookin it with the exhaust not the intake. some ppl vent out of their sewer. and wat about your intake hole? have you considered that?

accumulated humidity in your attic space is a bad situation (started rotting my roof, above my cabinet, and I wasn't even venting directly into the attic :wtf:) ... also, it may melt snow on the roof, attracting attention, if you're of the 'stealth' type grower ... :smokin:

Ive considered hooking it up to the bathroom vent which is close by, but im not sure I can get to it. Ill take a closer look next time and see if I can actually get to the vent.

Has any1 had any experience with active carbon filters?

Would it be possible to put something similar into the exhaust ducting that all air passes through? How well do these work? Thanks.
