How many BTU's(air conditioning) do I need to run a 6000w grow room with air cooled hoods? Im thinking that 18000btu will be good but just dont want to buy a ac that is under powered. The room 8'x12' and 8' tall. I live in CA so it does get pretty hot in the summmer.

with your air cooled hoods and no leaks in your room you should be fine.also run your lights at night.i know in the bay it gets to hottest from 1pm to about 5pm so i turn the lights on at 7pm- and off by 1 the next day to keep from drawing in hot air.hope that helps

I am wasteing a lot of Co2 when the exhaust kicks on. It comes on just around every 5-7 mins and is on for about 3-5 mins(out side temp verys) when the lights are on. The temp is set to 80-85. Exhaust coming on at 85 and off at 80. it takes about 5-7 mins for the room to heat back up 85 and then the exhaust turns on for 3-5 mins. The Co2 is on only when the exhaust is off. even so I use about 50lbs of Co2 every 10- 14 days. Im hoping that the ac will just make it able to have the exaust off longer. Maybe the exhaust will stayoff for at least 30min. I hope. Im working on the install now. picked me up an 18000 btu LG brand air conditioner from HD
Its a biggy, 130lbs. OH my back:(

holly crap dude a 20 lb tank should last a 10x10 room a month.plants can only take in so much.i would change your system to run 3 or 4 times a day intermitently and have you exhaust either hooked up to a timer to shut off for 10-15 min at a time, whal the co2 is running.also if you use a/c you need to buy a dehumidifier so if your biggest worry is co2 production i would switch to the 3 or 4 times a day method.good luck to yah
