i feel like a noob just asking the question, but i need it answered.
with the 12/12 light cycle, it goes to 13/11, 14/10, etc. ok
so which one is lights on? my guess is the first one, but im not even sure wether or not to give it 13 hours lights or 11 hours light. any help would be great. I just bought a light timer, and soon realized after plugging it in that i am a noob. Help me move on. Ty.

First number is light, second is dark.
Since you are a noob, just keep it simple... At least 18 hours of light per day for veg (18/6, 20/4, 24/0), and when it's time to flower, just switch to 12/12 and leave it like that for the remainder of the grow. Good luck

You can do anywhere from 16-24 hours of light and 8-0 hours of dark for veg. To flower the plant, you run the lights 12 hours of light, 12 hours of dark. These are the two most common light cycles and I would not stray from them, assuming you know little about cannabis considering you are asking this very basic question. Hope this helped!

If I mention somethng you already know, sorry.
not sure exactly what your asking....
when you switch lights to 12/12 you are switching your plants to flower-mode.
this usually means a different bulb/light setup.
the act of switching lighting from (18/6 or 20/4 or 24/0 - on/off) to 12/12 triggers flowering hormones in the plant. some plants are so sensitive to the change that one night-cycle switch, and switching back to 18/6, and the plant will need to "reveg"...
outdoors, when the days shorten to a certain length in hours, triggers the same hormone changes.
sometimes toward the end of a flowerring cycle you can "encourage" your girls by switching to 11on/13off and flushing them. I wouldn't bother with any less light unless you have a specific strain that wants something different.
otherwise remain at 12x12 for flower.

My question was wether or not the cycle goes from 12/12 to 13/11 14/10 15/9 and so on. If you just have to keep them 12 hours on 12 off that seems way to easy. Maybe this is just way to easy, and i need to stop getting stoned before i do anything with my baby. :stoned:

It's a weed.
It wants to grow.
It's just that easy!!!
:D
I know people who have done a simulation of fall reducing the light as low as 8 on etc., and they got good results... more slowly, and the finished product was essentially the same.

The --/-- stands for X hours on/X hours off. So if you're doing 18/6, you've got 18 hours of light, 6 hours of dark. And there's no need to go in any kind of cycle when you're switching, if I'm understanding what you're asking. It's perfectly fine to go from 24/0 straight to 12/12, no need to slowly work your way to it.

hehe what they said. You don't really need to ease the plants into the 12/12.. just flip it straight away and the plants will work things out. Some growers like to try and recreate the suns natural pattern and increment by an hour from 18, to 17, 17 to 16, until they reach 12/12.
good luck in your endeavours
;)
