In my limited experience, buds don't REALLY start taking off until after the 4th week. Before they they look really small and unimpressive with crystals. But after that 4th week, watch out!:thumbsup:

without details, nothing much can be said ... BUT, I would suspect he doesn't have enough light, and cool temps slow growth, also ... ya can't grow big colas under a flashlight, or everybody would be doing it ... the 'thin leaves' suggest he has a sativa, which can require several months to flower out ... just a wild guess

i forgot to say he has 2 plants what look a different strain to the rest, they have thicker stalk and broader leaf, and much more bud on.
he is using 600w hps bulbs, 1 on 3 plants, the bulbs have been used about 5 times would that make a difference.
the max temp is about 85f and it dipps to about 70 when lights are off.
some of the plants have stretched a bit were as other aint, they aint very consistant with height, some are bigger than others
The plants are in coco, he hand feeds them, he uses cocoa-b, and also cana boost accelaration
I WILL UPLOAD PICS LATER
thankyou for your help

Where did you get the seeds? Did you purchase a specific strain, or are they bagseed?
If bagseed, or from an obscure source...I could understand, as backyard 'breeders' are often a lazy bunch that don't generally back-cross to stabilize the strain, prior to selling their seeds.
Likely, if they are from the same source, the difference in characteristics is the difference between the male plant, and the female plant that the seeds came from. (perhaps one parent was a sativa dominate, and the other one was an indica dominate)
... just another wild guess

When did you start counting days, when you went to 12-12 or when you first saw female flowers? I think it looks like a cross with sativa dominant structure.I think Rusty is correct also, you are seeing different charachteristics due to not being stableized seeds. Plants still look good enjoy your harvest in another 5-8 weeks.

when i changed to 12-12
they didnt come from seeds, they came as cuttings
so wat do you think, for 3 and half weeks, do they look behind, and how long would you say is left, and also from the pics could you tell the strain of plant

I think they look good, looks sativa dominate which would lead one to think they will take atleast 60 days to finish also they dont really start bulking up till about 1/2 way thru flowering. Also check with the person you got cuttings from they should know more on lineage and cycle. peace

it's definitely a sativa-dominant, and typically needs about 12 weeks in flower ... I had some of Reeferman's 'Willie Nelson' garbage go 16 weeks, and still didn't have any amber trichs (Viet & Nepalese sativas) ... sativa is the best, but it takes the longest ... usually worth the wait :smokin:

they look damned good to me. nice and healthy.
I'ma guessing that what you and your friend are seeing is simply a difference in strains.
these plants may need to flower a little longer than the others.
