i keep reading that cfl lights are a fire hazard is this true? they say that they melt at the base of the light

The only problem I've ever had with CFL's, was the time one fell out of the package at Walmart. Was kinda interesting watching them try and decide how to clean it up, lol. (they contain some mercury)
But I've never had one melt either itself, or the lamp base. :thumbsup:

Got 3 - 65 watt ones....no melting in 2 years.

i figured so,this stuff was written a few years ago before they wer popular but idk thanks guys im not going to be to worried.....but what are the odds of it catching something else on fire like my plants.if they just so happen to dry out extremely fast:thumbsup:

hey dude, guessing the only way a cfl could melt if it was operating in a high heat environment, like unmanaged 90 degrees+++ or.. next to a HPS or MH bulb. Can't think what else would melt the plastic, as obviously they are safety spec tested like that :)
