Hey there. My son and I are getting ready to embark on a magical project here very very soon.
We are going to start a worm compost bin, and of course it's going to be a total DIY. I have been wanting to do this for some time now, and he is all jacked up about it, having worms at the ready for whenever he wants to go fishing!
For me, I am looking at a good way to get rid of some biological waste...er hmmm...
and also looking forward to using the worm tea, and compost down the road. The bin we are going to make will be a 3 level bin, the 3rd level being for the collection of the sweet worm tea. It seem pretty straight forward, and it is something that I know he can pretty much build all by himself w/ a little supervision. Pretty excited about it, just wanted to run the plans by yous folks and get some feedback as far as experiences, things to avoid etc....
Here is a link to the plan that we will use. What do you think? Am I making this more complicated than it needs to be going w/ this design, doesn't seem to tough, but hell I have zip experience w/ worm composting bins.
I will take lots of pics and document the build, and use of this thing, I hope that it will be useful for everyone here that is into gardening.
The link to the plans:

And for those of you that don't care to click the link, a quick pic of what we will be building and how it works.

This design seemed to be the most functional for what I need it for, and I like the idea of being able to rotate the top 2 bins, and separating the tea, compost, and working area. Let me know what you think, or if you have any useful advice for us! I was wondering, how long will that "tea" keep, and what were the best ways to use it and the compost. Not that I will have to worry about it anytime soon, but just curious as to how some of you use these.
Thanks.
