Going To Jamaica!!!

Hey everyone,

So in two weeks I get to go to one of the few cannabis friendly countries in the world, and I was wondering if anyone has any tips for me when I go. I tried searching around but a lot of the other threads seem outdated. Can anyone who has been to Jamaica give me some tips on how to stay safe? I would like to know how available the Ganja is, and whether or not it is fine to smoke it anywhere.

I have heard stories of how people have gotten some stuff from bartenders which would be really convenient, but is it safe to smoke on tourist beaches or even on the property of our hotel?

I've never been there, but folks that have lived there, warned me about straying from the typical tourist sites ... supposedly a VERY dangerous place to roam around ... :wtf:

I think its safer now, places I scored some herb was the beach, every day I saw the same guy walking selling pipes and jewlery, and he sold me some nice herb, then told me where to get some bomb right next to the hotel, I ended up smoking with him every day I was their. very cool guy

A Mormon I knew had to do his "mission" there, and he said he has never met any type of people so nice, not once did he feel threatend walking through the poorer areas.

That could either be because hes a crazy mormon thinking he has god on his side or it actually is a safe place.

I wonder if the US government somehow made americans think jamaica was a dangerous place. you know, that propaganda shit.

For the most part the tourist areas are very safe, they want your tourist dollars. Kingston has a very high crime rate and should be avoided, Montego Bay is a big city and has it's share of big city crime, but if you sick to the touristy areas you are probably all right.
Weed is everywhere but I would wait until your settled in your room to try and score. Weed quality varies a lot. I would tell your dealer that you don't smoke much and that you only want $10 or $20 worth. If the product is exceptional ask about how to get more of the same.
The better weed and the better prices that I got during my 2 trips have been from older guys, the street hustlers may have good product, but by nature they are hustlers and are to be avoided if possible. With a bartender at least you know where he works so he will probably have some business ethics.
Lamb's Bread is the local name for their high end weed, many people will call their weed by this name, just like dealers in America misusing names, so buy with caution. We rented a cottage last time I went and smoked everyday with a woman who worked for the owner of the cottage, after showing her hospitality for a week she showed up with a few buds of Lamb's Bread. It was superior in looks and aroma than anything else we had seen and the smoke was excellent. Perhaps if you find a reliable source suggest that you might be willing to pay a premium price for a sample of the best the island has to offer.

My first trip was in 1974 and we paid $25 for 1/4lb- then found out that we had paid too much, the going rate was $15 1/4lb.. Expect 35yrs worth of inflation.

Have a good trip and have a Red Stripe and some goat curry for me.
