im am two weeks in with these guys. half of them i cloned into peat pellets and half into rockwool cubes. in the last week the ones in rockwool have been turning yellow on the lower leaves, yet the ones in the peat look just fine, i have been misting the dome morning and evening with just water as the dome is drying up, no nutes. just yesterday i thought maybe the clones in rockwool are not getting any nutes but the others and getting something out of the peat. so i did a weak foliage spray of some botanicare pure blend pro. i need some help as the clones in rockwool are the ones i need for my hydro. here are some pics, the last one are the ones in peat for a comparison. please any advise anybody has will be greatly appreciated
ps: oh and also i know they are all rooted now, i have checked them, if that helps for any diagnosis.

If they all have roots, then go ahead and plant them. Most of my clones end up with the bottom leaves turning yellow by the time they get roots. Once you plant them and start feeding them they should grow fine. They just look like maybe they are over watered.

when cloning you can tell when the roots are starting to grow cause the older leaves start yellowing using the chloroohyll for nutrients or something,
noting to worry bout less u dont transplant

My clones do that just about everytime and all I use is the Rockwool cubes to start them. If the roots are visible out of the cube then plant and go, if not then (if it was me) I would mix up 1/4 strength nutes and "dunk" the cubes into the water for about 3-5 seconds. Also if rooted get rid of the dome unless you want a mold problem. to much humidity when rooted can give that overwatered look, been there done that about 2 grows ago and almost lost half the clones b4 we figured it out.

The ones in rockwool need more nutes.particularly nitrogen. But hit them light. They'll green up in a couple days. Rockwool has no nutes so you need to feed them. I like rockwool cubes for clones, but I put the clones with rockwool into soil filled cups.

Aloha Alex
Rockwool has a high PH and needs to be conditioned with low PH water.
Peat pellets are low PH and require the opposite.

hey thanks alot guys, it completely makes sense. i decided to pull apart the rockwool cubes and put directly into hydroton, same with the ones in peat. and now they are about 4 weeks in and the ones that were in peat are twice the size of the ones that were in rockwool. i dont know but in my opinion i cant say im a fan of the rockwool. i've heard of those rapid rooter plugs, have you guys used them for hydro, and how do the compare with rockwool?

I agree with all of the above. Next time put them in the small cubes until you see a few good roots, soak the larger cubes in ph 5.5 water with 1/4 strength bloom nutes before transplant, dont overwater is the key with rockwool.

hi i switched from rockwool cubes to root riot (rapid rooter) cubes 3 grows ago and have never looked back. imho they are faster, more reliable, come pre soaked in a sealed pack and are generally easier to use.but i am still quite a noob so maybe it's me thats improved (doubt that though lol).
