Here are the pics of the first 3 plants I have grown, seeds were from a stash, so strain unknown, 2 have confirmed Female today, but the third which was allways plant No.1 ie the first to sprout, and allways the tallest, is still not showing sex, they were put into 12/12 with 600w SonT Growlux, (2nd light being added in a few days) There is allways a chance that they could turn Hermie, so fingers crossed. Its allways worried me that these Plants have allways been immensley bushy, they sprouted 26 Dec 2004, and were in 18/6 till they reached about 2ft, they have been lovingly tended to everyday, and will seem such a shame :( when I harvest them.

Very nice.....hey I'll bet you a dollar to a donut that the first one is male. 90% of the time I have found the first to grow and the tallest turns out to be male so in nature the pollen developed first to maintain the species....nature will always find a way. Just an opinion and personal observation. They do look very nice I hope all goes well for you.

Is that one of those lights of America flourex bulbs? Does it use a ballets or just the 110v mog socket?

I suspect you are right about the first plant being a Male, the link below will give you details about the light I am using, currently 600W, but will be increasing this to 1200W in the next few days.

Well it turns out that all 3 plants are Female, they have grown at least another 12" since last week, and are all now showing pretty white pistills, will post more pics when I can get some decent photos of flowers. I have also now added the second 600W HPS light so taking total up to 12W

Howdy FatBud,
Excellent ! That's great news..are ya gonna keep the best female and reveg her for clones ? Once your growroom is working good, are you gonna git some quality seed stock ? I've just set up a growroom myself, and am in the process of working out all the bugs,by using some no-name beans, when I git it just right..I'll start some of my quality beans. I got a 1kwatt mh,and it's kicking butt..I tell you what ! :D
Have a good one ! :D

I took 2 clones of each of the three plants before flowering, these are doing really well, and are currently in hydro pots under Flou, these will be my mothers, and will clone from these, each of the plants in flowering has around 12 main buds, with up to 23 smaller buds, so it will be quiet interesting to see how much dried harvest I get, in around 6 - 8 weeks I reckon. The grow room is working great, its has electronically controlled temp sensors running i input and 1 output fan, so conditions are spot on, although the fans are now working much faster now I have added the second 600W HPS, and the temp is now running at a constant 27 degrees, humidity is about 50%.

I wouldn't do much sampling, that half gram you pulled off will probably be like 1.5 to 2 grams once they fill up, and much much more potent. DO you have a microscope or jewlers loop to check the trichomes? If you don't I would urge you to start looking for one as this is the best way to really control how the smoke will turn out in effects wize.
If you do not allready know about how the color of trichomes work I might as well say it now, I'm sure someone will learn from it. Up untill near harvest the trichomes, what many people call chrystals, will be clear. This indicates that the THC is not well developed. When nearing harvest they will begin to turn milky. If you harvest when the trichomes are mostly milky you get what would be concidered a more energetic and social high, if you wait, they will get amber. This is what you want for meds, it will be much more knock out. really plant your butt. And if you wait longer then you will actually miss the window, so trichomes may actually EXPLODE, and thc is synthesized into some other stuff. so that is what you want. But strain is obviously the main thing, they determine what window of range you have for the effects. This is the main thing that you can do. ANd With overall smoking...well drying and curring are very important!

Thanks for all the comments, I do have a 30x Microscope, and have been watching the Trichomes on daily basis, most are now Landular Bulbous Trichomes, and are just starting to turn a little milky, I have now stoped the feed, and am using PH balanced water to help flush nuits from them, I will be harvesting on May 5th, as I reckon they will be just about right, besides I need to get them drying before I go on holidays, However I have 8 more in hydro tubs under fluro, which I intend to keep 4 as mothers, and flower the other 4, these are all cuttings from the original 3 plants, Although plant 1 turnrd out to be fem, it only has about a 10th the amount of trichomes as the the other 2, so will probably flower the cuttings from that, and keep the best ones asa the mothers. I will post some more pics before I chop them, and more when its dried. As far as smoking samples is concerned, I only took a couple of tiny buds from the bottom of the main stem, about an inch from the top of the soil! dried them for 30 seconds in the microwave and smoked them, they were a bit "tasty" lol but wow! damn strong, so I cant wait until all my hard work goes up in smoke!!! :p

Its a pity I don't know the strain of these, as they started out as seeds from some stash, So I think I will just call them Monster Bud!!!!! any other suggestions?

I think 'Monster-Bud' would be a pretty apt name for them. They are some fat buds.
Nice plants mate.

This picture is of a single ovule covered in Bulbous glandular Trichomes, It was taken using a £15.00 iluminated 30X pocket microscope, and placing a digital camera lens over the eyepiece. The brown section at the bottom is the shriveled Pistil.

Damn man that yield is gonna be huge for 3 plants.
You said you were going to harvest May 5.
Is that still your target date???
The trichomes look like they could use maybe 1 more week....
Are you then going to wait 2 more days of total darkness then chop?
Please advise...
great, awesuma and phenomomal looking 3 plants.
Congrats on the 3 females....great great work.
P.S. What size pots are those? Looks like the 5 gallon buckets weren't needed here. Really curious as to how big htey are.

Ya dude wait longer those babys are gonna be fucking huge just hold up for a week.

Well, I did originally have the 5th of may down as harvest day, but to be honest the buds have grown quite a bit in the last week, with the biggest tips now larger than a tennis ball, and around 16 inches long, and there are at least 8 buds that size, without all the smaller buds, basically all three plants are covered in bud, so I may just wait an extra couple of weeks, as the top buds are still growing white pistills, so these things could get real big over the next 2 weeks. I will post a few pics later with something in the shot for comparison. The Pots are only 10" pots, and to be honest they are completely pot bound, so next time I will use the 5 Gallon pots that I intended to use this time around. Check back a little later for new pics.

Can I ask, how long did the sense of sadness prevail about cutting down your plants?
FatBud
05-07-2005, 09:48 PM
good question, well when you consider, I have nurtured the 3 plants for 4 months, and watched them grow, and healed them when they were sick etc etc. you would expect to feel a little sad, at taking a shears and cutting them dead!! I spoke to them first and explained things to them, and they were ok with it!! lol (joke) to be honest though, It was a sad moment when I cut the first one but that saddness soon past, as the room filled with the strong scent of sweet Sinsemillia!! I wouldn't like to hazard a guess at how much bud I have as it is difficult to tell, but lets just say that the whole ceiling of what was my grow room has bud hanging from it, and thats 1.35 meters square, and each bud is between 6 and 14 inches long, so its a decent harvest for 3 plants. So shall we have a sweep stake to see who can get the closest to the correct weight when its dry!!
