Two huge ladies, sisters from bag seeds. One hydroponic, one in soil. They have been in flower for 11 weeks. I had not harvested yet as I was hoping buds would increase in size.

1) unknown genetics, so unknown flower length
2) January 14th -3 weeks into flower, in a cold snap and power outage that devistated veg plants, (three of four mothers die, plus most other veg) AND of those in flow- three died, four lived. These two obviously lived but the hydro went to 60% yellow wilted dead leaves, the soil a bit better.

....it seemed it took 2.5 weeks to recover and look healthy again....so unsure of how that has effected bug growth/ strength...

BUT.... tri-chromes are past 70%, closer to 90+ % and I fear that....

------------------------------
I really need to harvest atleast one now, over this weekend to have the time, privacy to do the steps. The hydro plant has only been flushed for 2 days....so I was leaning towards the soil....but when changing out the resevoir tonight, I clipped off 1/3 of the root mass on the hydro.

So, any help on which you'd recommend I tackle in the next 20 hours or so.

And any thought on how much damage I might do if I let one/ both go until next weekend...with 90+ percent amber tri-chromes.

Many, many thanks for time, thought and answers

Your harvesting window began when all the trichs were cloudy. I've read that after a certain point, ( I'm not sure about what ratio, this, but all amber is too much), the thc begins to degrade, and therefore potency will also decrease.

I say harvest NOW. Both of them, the hydro doesn't take as long to flush as soil.

Yep what bigtopsfinn said makes a lot of sense:thumbsup:

11 weeks is a long time to flower for many strains. Since it was bagseed and most bud in most areas is indica or indica dominant, you probably should have harvested like 2-3 weeks ago at the latest. The quality of your final product will probably be somewhat diminished because the THC degrades after all the trichs become amber. Cut them both down ASAP!

My want for bud that i grew myself in incredibly intense. I don't even know if my plants are female or not lol. I think it would just be satisfying to be enjoying something that you worked your ass off for.

I harvested from both the top 1/2 of the buds, left the rest that did not show the trichs as amber. I've been better at checking things and will harvest the rest tommorow.

I'd never have left it so long other than the freeze damage that resulted in 40 plus percentage of leaves turning yellow and dying 4 weeks into flower.

If things degraded so be it. This is my first real harvest and from these two plants I'll end up with 2 quarts of "B" grade bud with a harvest of what should be better-from purchased designer seeds in a month or so.

I was pretty pissed earlier in the process, but now I'm happy to have a run through the process of harvest, trimming, hash, drying, curing. And of what I've sampled after initian drying..... it is effective, and tastes good...not as strong as I'd prefer...I'll see how stuff not as "over ripe" compares in a few weeks

I'm also going to try to re-veg atleast one of these two. The best one is the hydro
