View Full Version : Ordered seeds and they are small

So whenever I find a seed in a bag they tend to be nice fat seeds. However I have recently ordered 5 different strains from 2 different seed suppliers and they are all small. Like half the size they should be. Will these seeds work? Will they have a lower chance of germination? Will they be stunted? Or will they be completely ok? Is there some new way of producing seeds that makes them like this? Or did they just harvest early without letting them fully develop? Mainly I just want to know if they will work and whether I should trust these seed suppliers. Thanks in advance for any help on this subject.

in some cases small seed's maybe caused by weak genes.but in many cases (like my B-52) the small seed's produce big healthy plant's. so when your talkin bout seed's ..no i dont think "size matter's"

seed size & shape varies a bit, with strains ... the old 'Columbian Gold', from the late '60s, had tiny seeds, almost perfectly round ... some Thai is like that, too :smokin:

Can be large or quite small. Both can grow into fine plants.

Are the seeds mature, should be the question.

Are they dark, or pale and whitish? I have seen seeds that are silvery gray, that at first glance could be mistaken for pale, immature seeds, but usually pale is bad.

Look at how the seeds are filled out- are they fat and shiny, or do they look like they are empty or deflated a bit?

If they are dark, plump little seeds, then you just have a small seeded variety. And speckled or solid color seed coats have nothing to do with the plant being a sativa or indica... potent or weak...male or female. Nor does the shape of the seed indicate any of these things.

If I come accross a seed in a bag or bud, I often times give it a little sqeech between my thumb and index finger. Normally if its immure, weak, or a bad seed it will break/crack. This is my "good/bad seed" tester.

I however wouldn't recommend using it on seeds you buy over the internet.

Thanks for the help everyone. They are small but developed seeds. Brown with that pattern they always have. Just kinda small and skinny. Not too filled out. We'll see once I get a chance to germinate them :)

The seeds for my straight Haze (tallest plant we ever grew) the seeds were very small. I don't think it makes any difference with size as long as they are healthy and mature.
