Hi,
I've been in Colorado my whole life. I have Depression that makes me severly Nauseous. Sometimes its so bad I can't eat. I am Bipolar and have mild mood swings. I am a Asthmatic. When I go to bed at night and lay down. I weez really hard and sometimes can't sleep. The Marijuana acts as a Bronchial Dialater for me. Up until a week ago things were bad. I recently found out that Marijuana helps with all of those symptoms. I am tired of going to shady people for things I can aqquire legally. I was just wondering how i should approach my doctor about the topic? I have been on the internet researching all the legal advice and regulations to a Medical Marijuana License. I think it would be a good deterrent to these Narcotics they are trying to make me take. If anyone has any insight or information. Please get back to me, It would be appreciated.

If you tell your doctor that you'd rather smoke your medicine than eat it, he has to agree with you. It's your preference.

My doctor said that to me: "So, you'd rather smoke your medicine than eat it." Then, I told him how I lost twenty-five pounds, while going through the medicinal-regimen.

My doctor's hands are tied, so he left me to stay in my private-hell. "Well, I'll talk to some people," was the last thing he said. He, also, told me that he wasn't an expert on marijuana. He wasn't the first doctor that I approached.

The first one, who had been experimenting on me, agreed with me that cannabis helps a lot of things, then he said, "I tell all my patients, who use marijuana as their medicine, to just keep it on the down-low, other than that there's nothing more I can do for you (or, them)". I've heard, "There's nothing more I can do for you," too many times.

At least, you have a doctor who can do something for you.

I go strictly to a "pot doc" While legal, it IS skirting the sidelines but I have found that most doctors are not too open to the concept of mmj. If your state is legal, find a doctor that specializes in mmj. You'll be much better off.

PS...I have lung cancerr and asked my cancer doc about mmj.......he mumbled around, said he didn't think it was very helpful stuff (and he had good reasons) and told me "he would never write a patient a recommendation." This is a doctor who has basically (no exxageration) saved my life with his treatment of my cancer so believe me I'm not dissing him at ALL. Just saying there are different views at there and it would probably be better to find a doctor for your recommendation who already accepts and knows what mmj is capable of.

Good luck.

there is a reason most doctors dont like to recommend marijuana that has nothing to do with medical evidence, and has everything to do with the ama. the ama and major pharmaceutical co's are in bed together. they want all ama docs to prescribe fda meds, and they have "incentives" to make sure everything stays that way. a weed that can grow everywhere and costs nothing doesn't really factor into a national business plan very well.

docs that specialize in pot are doing it almost as activists.

Thanks guys
I have my doctors appointment tommorrow morning.
I was planning on gathering some documents as well.

I just don't know how to word it.

Should i be straight up about the subject?
My state is a legal state. (Colorado)
I feel that Him and I have a good Patient to Doctor relationship. If not more then a regular patient.

By all means be honest with your doctor.

I'm worse off having the Veteran's Hospital for all my care.
The Albuquerque VA has the highest ranking of all health care facilities both private and public and yet cannot write me up for MMJ because they are a Federal enity.
My eye docs were informed by me I use cannibas and thus why my major eye surgeries and recoveries went as well and had the most ideal results thereafter.
I will let them see my skin cancer gone bye bye now and ask to be documentd from here on regardig my use of THC oil to kill the cancer.

A doc quietly told me the VA is already doing patient studies with medical cannibas in more than one form...oil and smoke/vape.
But that they were and are under wraps from public disclosure and are doing so deep in the back ground.
He said the VA will be allowing and prescribing its use in two years at most.
Because many many more troops will be coming home and in need of pain meds, PTSD and other war injuries that will merit cannibas and not place 1000s and 1000s into an addiction due to the pains meds and likely years for so many needing help in pain management, etc.

Meanwhile....not a thing in NM for obtaining the medicine and those with money have not the guts to get going and growing.

Take good care and God bless you.

You have a nasty illness that demands so much from you.

Thanks guys

I'm pretty nervous.

If he says no should I ask him his veiws on it?

My doctor said he is not familiar with the procedure or things like that.
He said it was not in his area to give me a reccomendation for it.
But he reccomended me to another doctor monday to talk about it with.
I was very straight up with him.
He said he knew how much the MMJ can help and that he was behind me for it i just had to go to a diffferent doctor. Which is fine.
I'm already waiting for monday...
thanks for all the assistance guys

Many of the legalities in the mmj are still in the gray area......don't blame your doc for not oking an officially unproven medical treatment. Go to a good "pot doc" i've learned a HUGE amount about mmj from my mmj doc......really excellent info.

I also remember being surprised at some of the other patients at the office when I arrived for my exam. Times have definitely changed.....we need to change with them.

He said he didn't look at me as a pot head and they did a x-ray on me and there is a pellet stuck in the socket of my leg and hip. Causing tremendous pain.
My friend shot me like a year ago. But I just started to get tremendous leg pain like 2 weeks ago.
And he said that he wants to try to eliminate the pain.
Instead of just treating it as it goes.
We are going to see how things go.
I have faith though. He seemed to respect the fact that i was just straight up with it.

"Honesty is key in a Doctor/Patient relationship" He said.
So thanks guys!

It's great to see someone being honest with their GP! Honesty is always key. It must be rough for you, but hopefully things will begin to turn around if this new doc is helpful in any way. Let us know how everything turns out, and best of luck, Tek!
