Hey all! While visiting my hometown Burlington VT over the summer I took a glass blowing lesson and made my own pipe :rastasmoke: (with much help from my very patient instructor) at a great place called the Bern Gallery. Took maybe an hour or so.

Added a dark red color which I really like, and we sprayed it with this stuff that makes it color changing.

In the last picture where I'm holding it rolled over on its side a bit, you can see the bottom is asymmetrical and a little messed up looking. The plan was to flatten the bottom beneath the bowl to prevent it from rolling around, but I pressed the bowl too deep which didnt' leave any room to flatten. So we added some extra gobs of glass - the end result being a little uneven and imperfect on the bottom, which I like. Adds character, and really it should look a little messed up since it was my first time.

I've got pictures of the whole process but they're still on my lady's camera. Once I get them from here I'll post another thread and use the pictures to help describe the process a bit. Hard to describe without the pictures, but I'm happy to answer any question about the process.

A very nice birthday gift from my girlfriend - one of the best gifts I've ever received by far. The feeling of smoking out of very cool piece I made myself - there's a lot of pride in that. And everyone else who's used it gets a kick out of it.

Wasn't long - about an hour or so. I think they always have an artist on site and can take walk-ins on short notice as they did with me. Cost in July was $100.

thats awesome guy. i looked into starting to blow glass pieces myself, just on my own, but startup cost was too much for a college student lol. that pipe looks great though, good job.

That's really cool, I'd like to see the process behind that. Is a bong much harder to make? I'd imagine so.

Ha, thanks. Angels been singing the last few days as I smoke some of what I was told is Jack Herer Whether or not this is a real Jack Herer the high is excellent - very heady and makes me feel like Superman, great day time smoke. Buds are very frosted and she has a nice fruity smell. I often use a bong, but she tastes great through my pipe. So I've got some pictures of these newly acquainted friends.

I've never seen one made, but it must be harder - that much more glass to deal with.

Aww, Bristol is great. I've been missing Vermont. This place is right on Main St near the Flynn.
