We sometimes watch this show called "House", about a brilliant doctor with his own medical and mental problems. Seems like every other episode, they mention a whole bunch of drugs that this guy uses, including narcotics, sometimes illegally, and never once have they had him use cannabis, for better or worse. In one episode, he took a psychedelic, acid I believe, to help himself understand a patient's problem. Another time, he was stealing drugs from the hospital he works at, and/or writing Rx's for dead people, so that he could administer them to himself.

If this character can use methadone, vicodin, and even LSD, why don't these writers include marijuana - the safest of them all? Wouldn't a brilliant guy like House want to at least try it for his pain and suffering? My guess is that they feel that the show's sponsers will not like it.

if a doctor walked in my hospital room looking like that, I'd throw his ass out ... lowlife, deadbeat-looking scumbag ... least he could do, is shave ... wonder if he ever washes his hands ?? ... good example of how ridiculous television has become ... the show sucks ... :twocents:

I actually can totally see Reaper's point but I like the show anyway. It's COMPLETELY unrealistic in terms of doctors and how they work.....his unshaven ass would have been sued out of his license years ago. You actually DO have to examine patients to treat them.

Taking that aside and taking the show just at it's own level I love it. And BA, my personal thought is that marijuana just isn't controversial enough for the show's writers. I think the writers just try and poke pins at the audience and see which ones stick and I don't mj creates the jolt they like to see in their audience. Too bland.

though i really enjoy the show (house's temperment is nearly as foul as my own), the message that runs through the show is almost an advertisement for the pharmaceutical industry. the only times weed has ever been mentioned have been as possible causes for various conditions, never in anything close to a positive light. beyond the veiled sexual references, it is one of the most puritanical shows on the air today and its anti-drug bias is rather clear.

They did have one episode where, when they burgled a patients home searching for clues, the patient had an indoor grow.
They did not turn him in or try to blame weed for his illness.
That's progress of a sort.:D

It was a cool show in the beginning, up until they dropped the original cast members for new people. Then it got sort of boring and repetitive...ehh all shows have lose their swagger I guess. Still, I never liked "I'm miserable you're miserable let's be miserable together...or alone" type feeling from it. Pretty lame, if you ask me...god damn I am blitzed, am I typing alright??

I like the show. There was a couple episodes where the onocologist was rolling joints for his patients. I like the way it portrays House's use of narcotics. In real life thats how it works. After a while your dosage has to be increased or medicine changed to keep up with tolerance levels and pain management. I know here in my own area its very difficult to find a doctor that will approve both prescription narcotics for heavy pain management and MJ for lighter days.

I've seen this one too.
House tried to pocket one of the joints but his friend called him on it.

Good show

I agree with this too......in any episode (save the one where Wilson was rolling joints) mj has always been portrayed in the show as a negative thing and sometimes the CAUSE of people's illnesses which I don't agree with at
ALL. I still love the show.....but agree with DoN that they come accross as anti-weed while portraying House downing other (sometimes illegal) substances right and left.

I'm so glad to see this subject on this forum. You know, I've never looked at the show like some of the people here, that House is a lowlife or anything like that. I think he's rather a sexy devil ;). Never really noticed that he's unshaven until someone said that. Kind of interesting how different opinions can be. I think the show is funny and interesting. I really like it and can watch the same episodes over and over again, for some reason and I usually don't get so carried away with television.
