Light Spectrum Question

I am currently strapped for cash and I can only afford one HID lightbulb. I can't decide whether to go with HPS or MH for both veg and flower. Would the blue light in the HPS be too low to make the best of the veg stage or will it just burn the young plants? Would it be better to keep the seedlings under a CFL for longer during veg stage before transitioning to HPS?

I'm sorry if this is a noob/often debated question, but i've been planning my first grow for about 2 months and I still havent made a decision on what light to use.

HPS for sure... they even have one now with a little more blue spectrum, but I have a normal one and it works fine for veg and super well for flowering:thumbsup:

I second the use of a High Pressure Sodium bulb over a Metal Halide bulb, having the choice of only one.

Homedespot sells HPS bulbs, but I haven't seen any ballast there. Anyone?

Get the 430 HPS...it got the 30 of blue you want for veg...
