Hi all, I've got four plants two of which are doing rather poorly.... see more about that here (http://boards.cannabis.com/plant-problems/167935-curling-dark-spots-looking-bad-help-pics-form.html), any help appreciated.
The other two however are doing great and are showing their sexiness ( i see white hairs coming from the calyx's). But i haven't switched to 12/12 yet (there are still on 19/5).. so my questions are:
Do I run the risk of going hermie if I don't switch them to 12/12 now (the other 2 aren't ready)? What are the effects of holding off on 12/12 for a week (increased/decreased yield)?
Do these seem too small to go into their flowering cycle (about 10" from top of soil)?
I thought these were NL strains from a previous outdoor grow by a friend. Do those autoflower?
Thanks!
ps. I'll get some pics up soon.

if you are on 19/5 i don't believe that you should be seeing pistils yet. this usually doesn't happen in nature until the summer starts to come to an end and the days start to get shorter.

you don't risk going hermie by switching to 12/12. you can give the plants 36 hours of darkness before switching to 12/12. this is said to reset the plants internal clock and make them show sex faster. also, it is said to help the plant adjust to the 12/12 cycle a lot faster than if you just switched over. there really shouldn't be any increase/decrease for holding off.

that's not too small to go into flower. just don't expect to get much out of them. you will have one big bud more than likely.

NL is not an autoflower strain. there are a few NL crosses with lowryders and such that will make them autoflower though.

We seem to have some confusing.. They ARE showing sex (i'll post some photos) and i'm wondering if i risk going hermie by NOT going 12/12 (ie. holding off).
Also, It's my understanding that the plant can double or triple in size during flowering. Is that correct?

i'm still a noob, but i don't see any pistils, i see stipules ("outgrowths borne on either side of the base of a leafstalk (the petiole). A pair of stipules is considered part of the anatomy of the leaf of a typical flowering plant, although in many species the stipules are inconspicuous or entirely absent (and the leaf is then termed exstipulate)"). correct me if i'm wrong somebody? plants can start to show pre flowers before you actually change the light to 12/12.
as far as turning them hermie, from what i understand it has to due with light stress. so if you turn them off during the 12 hours of light, or on during the 12 of dark. something like that.
as far as a plants growth during flower, which is strain dependent, but your ladies can grow anywhere from 1/2 to 2/3 in size. you can read some about it here (http://www.angelfire.com/cantina/fourtwenty/articles/4060.htm).
hope this helps.

It is possible it is not budding, I have a haze cross that shows ass loads of pistil but is not flowering, I believe some strains just have more than others. I'm pretty certain mine is not an auto flower because it reacts the same way on my buddies gig that I got her from. Has reacted the same way through his 5 runs of her. It develops them early on in maturity and they remain that way throughout veg. When 12/12 starts it take about 2 wk or so to develop bud starts, which has way more pistils.
As far as the holding off a wk, I would prob 2wks because thats typical time span for recovery of many problems. A healthy plant you can expect to have a better if left to veg to full maturity. Not so much with one struggling with an issue, jump it to flower and it will spend some time and energies that would normally be dedicated to buds. Also, they usually will double in height in flower, at least in my exp. but many claim trip. Just saw ur pics after my slow typing submit, anyways..I concur with shake, it's not flowering, I can't even see the pistils showing their sex.

now if you can't see these, you just ain't trying...
I'm thinking it must be autoflowering... can anyone let me know if I risk hermie-fying if I don't go 12/12 now...?

congrats! it looks like you have some female pre-flowers! it is not uncommon for cannabis plants to show pre-flowers while vegging. from what i have read it starts to happen about the time the plant hits six nodes or so.
so leaving them in veg won't cause you any problems.
hope this helps!

preflowers, even autoflowers show them, but even if it is an autoflower, you dont run a risk of "hermyfying" if you dont go 12/12, people who use autoflowers never switch to 12/12, they keep it on 18/6,20/4 or 24/0, and normal plants u can vegetate to any age, before u flip

ok, cool. I had thought that pre-flowers were just the start of the flowering cycle.. I'll just keep on vegging, til I can fix the other 2 that have problems... I really wish I knew what strains I have.....
Thanks all!

ha! I seen the hairs in almost every picture, it took me three grows to sex early like that but now that I think of it its easy I feel stupid for having a plant grow on like week two of flower and still asking if its shown sex... lol looks ready to flip you got pre-flowers and alternating nodes so if your other plants are following suit go for 12/12

Flipped yesterday. They spent their first night in the dark. Any idea how long before I'll see and development? I know I'm due for 8 weeks, but how long before things get exciting?

you should more than likely see pistols anywhere between a week to two weeks. The first 40% of its flowering phase it will stretch and the last 60% of flowering it will spend fattening up! Somebody gave me this resource and now I'm going to pass it down to YOU!
