It seems I'm at the same place you are. This is what I'm looking at right now, while trying to make my own identifications

Try Googling "Marijuana preflowers" and select images.. you'll have more free info than the law allows. Also, in addition to JC's Medical Growers Bible, which has plenty of pre-flowering info/pics, there was a great article in HT Beginners Guide (collectors edition..) on sexing plants..

Preflowers generally occur about the 4th week of vegetative growth, or when the plant is 6-8 weeks from seed.

pic1 male pic2 female, i wouldn't think it would take more than a couple of weeks, though i know budding in general takes longer with cfl's so it may take longer cause of that. my plants showed before i put them into flower, I've read they will show about 2 months into veg and if you wait until they do show before flipping to 12/12 you'll get a bigger yield

Detroit and Animal,

You guys are confusing flowering and pre-flowering. The pics you put up are of early flowers, not pre-flowers. Pre-flowers occur while still in vegetative growth.. see above.

Animal, don't go looking for the wrong thing.. have you flipped them to 12/12?

well its funny cuz i just started to notice the preflowers on my plants a little before 2 month marker. they were just little buds at the time, but then like 5 days before i entered flower, i had noticed white hairs coming from the buds. so i guess u can def see the flowers coming in before flowering has begun

i cant say the male pic is 100% a male preflower cause I've havent had a male but the female pic is guaranteed accurate, its just 2 white hairs protruding from the nodes.
