various different bottoms and one layer around the side.
what's good everybody? i'm starting a new log for the 12 plants that i have germ.'d (1/28) and transplanted (1/30) into home made containers. i originally used the "grow light" tube that i started the original grow with. i have since added 4 CFLs. 3 x 6500k and 1 x 2700k, 23w, ~1600 lumen bulbs.

they twelve are:

5 x dank (from various bags)
1 x beaster (b.c. from a bag)
4 x really good corn (RGC from bag)
2 x good corn (GC from bag)

the containers are various drink bottles cleaned with holes added via a soldering iron. i added as many as i could on the
i don't have fans yet. the temps run a little hot. the first night when i left the box completely down the temp reached 104 degrees and cooked a batch of clones! yikes! so now i prop it open and it usually stays around 85 degrees. i can usually open the window or turn on the a/c and get it lower. I KNOW I NEED FANS! i'm working on it. i have a few other ideas to try. i want to tinker with passive cooling.

i really need to revamp the setup. which will be happening once the sometime-in-the-near-future move coming up. that will be nice. i might have some real space to work with!

this log will also contain the stories of a few stragglers. there is the Fridge Top Duo (a.k.a. FTD) that are two of the original seedlings that i germinated before going to jail.

there is also two surviving clones from that original batch. they don't look that good but they are still alive.

i think that pretty much covers it for now. i have a few pics.
the plants are looking very good at the moment.

actually there are 3 in the aero garden that i put in in place of three of the herb pods that didn't work. one has sprouted.

i feel ya about the bong/bowl conundrum. well it's not really a conundrum, i suppose. i just like to get really ripped and the bowls don't do it for me. they are fine once i'm blowed but i'm used to smoking blunts all the time. maybe it's just me. i do have a chillum and a spoon. a nice bubbler will be next.

CFL? Hey PPl. Ive just got a quick question in regards to RED/BLUE CFLs

Im basically wondering if a combination of red and blue (ie. warm white or cool white) is needed when growing Low Ryders or can I just use the RED bulbs for this strain as its pretty much straight to flowering?

i am gonna be looking at getting some new nutes. something organic. anybody have any recommendations for something good, but not expensive? and possibly an air pump to make the bubble cloner.

okay, where to start. on 3/1 i started 36 hours of darkness. well i forgot to start the lights again and didn't check on the ladies until 3/8! the tops were dead so i chopped them all off. the plants did survive though! so i nursed them back to health.

i must say that molasses is amazing! everytime i hit them with it they flourish and get tons of new growth! i'm gonna experiment with it some, but i have a feeling that it will work in veg too!

sorry for the tangent, back to what's at hand here.

once they got healthy, ~3/11 i started 36 hours of darkness again. yesterday i transplanted a few that were rootbound. i need to pick up some square pots. i'm currently using homemade 2-liter bottle pots. i mean they work fine, i just think the shape will work better for my space requirements.

i'll get a few pics up in a bit.

i still have plans on getting the fox farm trio for hydro (with a bottle of the soil one too). also the soluble tri-pack as well. but we had some fradulent charges on our bank account and then friday was my wifes birthday (and she got a $300 stand mixer!). so once the money is right i will be ordering them.

and the big box in my corner is gonna be put into service soon. it is 45.4" x 21" x 24". this will be the flower box. i am gonna go with a sea of green, perpetual harvest. i hope to yield 1/2 LB every two weeks by pulling 8 plants at 30 g's per. i think this is very doable, and i should probably get more once everything is dialed in. i want to go with a dro system . it's time to get my roots wet! i was thinking of using two of those underbed storage boxes. one in the box as a flood tray and one underneath as a res. sound feasible? i'm open to suggestions. i'll probably slowly start getting it ready for use while this current crop is finishing. just take me time with it.

i also have a box that is 18" x 18" x 23 1/4" for a clone/mother setup. i'll be using a bubble cloner and probably, eventually (with more experience and better genetics) some bonsai moms.

i think that pretty much sums everything up for now. i'm glad to be back. thanks for everyone staying with me during my hiatus!

i had to chop down 3 males. the beaster and the two R.G.C.'s. no worries though. the box is still full!

i will be germinating some seeds probably starting today. maybe tomorrow.

once this current batch is done i hope to get the fox farm nutes and soluble packs.

what's good everybody? checkin in with a report. i hit the ladies with some nutes today. still using the green light super bloom or some such crap, with superthrive and molasses.

quick side note, my lovely wife ordered me some fox farm nutes. i have the grow big for soil and hydro, big bloom, tiger bloom, cha ching, beastie bloomz, and open sesame. as well as some 5"x5" square pots!!!!

i also started the germ process on some new beans. still just using beans from sacks with names i see fit to give them. and those names (and quantities) are as follows:

7x dank (random seeds from a friend i think there are some from an afghani kush, super silver haze possible, maybe some bubblegum but honestly who knows?)

8x Green Tea (G.T), came from some popcorn that was really light green and i had just made some green tea, so you figure it out!

5x After Da Bust (A.D.B.), this is from some popcorn my buddy has currently that is the first stuff he has gotten since getting busted. it doesn't look great, really dark green with a few hairs, but the high is good. so why not?

5x Grand Daddy Corn (G.D.C.) so named from a buddy of mind. you know, the best 'corn. blah, blah.

ok. here is a little update. i transplanted the ladies today. i know it's a no-no during flower but they really needed it! i put them into 5"x5", square pots. i'm starting to look more and more professional all of the time.

there is some curling, copper-colored spttoed leaves going on though. i have filled out the troubleshooting form. i had the same problem last go 'round. i am using a fert (1/2 strength) called super bloom by green light. it's 12-55-06. the other thing's i've been adding are superthrive and molasses. i am using a water/feed, water/feed, water schedule.

i don't know any the pH of anything. i need to get a test kit. that's next. i did just purchase a brita filter for my faucet. maybe that will help a little?

they seem pretty healthy for the most part.

i also put a few more seeds into germ since some didn't seem to take once they hit soil. i need to start cloning i know. i should have done it this time. can it be done while plants are in flower?

But it will add stress to your ladies, also will take time for your ladies to recover. So you will lose time and bud production waiting for you plant to heal, Which I do not know a lot bout cloning but I think that energy to fix herself could have been better spent in producing fatter and more bud production.. I may be wrong tho but i know it will take time to heal your plant=Less energy and time spent getting bud production.:jointsmile: Usually if you gonna clone in flowering I think that you wanna do it in the 1st week of flowering maybe get away with it in the 2nd. But you will not yield as much as you would have if you did not clone.:twocents::baggy::angry3::admin2:

also cloning in flower will just be harder, use 6500k only light, many people just chop off the bottom branches anyways so taking off one or two to clone isnt going to damage your yield, you maybe lost one or two popcorn buds, this early into flower, that energy will be spent on the top colas now anyways

Also, cloning during early flowering is a little sluggish of a route, but I remember reading a log a couple tokes ago. someone was cloning a bubble gum fresh out of a friends flower room (maybe 2-3 weeks in). so...pull some clones and reveg 'em. or do a 20 clones all in hempy buckets and flower them while they are still small. =) 20 clones at 10 grams a piece? I'm gona cut my rambling ass off now.

hey shake- saw you calling me out on my rep-whoring on that other log. dick! naw, just playing. as to your other question, i've been around but lurking. my mom had a pretty serious back surgery (double fusion) and i've been making the 2 hour trip to help out more often than usual. currently researching some seeds to order with medicinal properties for her.

while i'm here, let me say some related info instead of rambling on thread-jacking...

on the cloning stuff: your warm:soft light ratios are fine, shake. and yes you can still clone. most don't advise after 2-3 weeks in though. the idea of cloning was totally alien to me my first time, but now i think nothing of raping a mother plant. with cloning, quantity is key. some won't take, some will. some'll take off, and some will lag behind. i'm happy if i get 1/3 of my clones to take off, because they usually all root for me now.

flowering clones might make better use of 6500k light for the first few days, until they change back to vegetative stage growth.. not sure though just a thought!

not a whole lot has been going on. last night i watered and fed the ladies. it was the first time they have been graced with real nutes. i used the big bloom, tiger bloom, and cha-ching. they seemed to like them. they looked real nice this morning.

i also watered the next batch of up-and-comers. they don't look like much yet, but they will!

what's good everybody? a little update on the log here.

last night i watered the ladies and fed them with big bloom, tiger bloom and cha-ching. (1/2 strength on the liquids and 1/4 teaspoon of the powder.)

i did get a new pH test kit and some pH down. the original test indicated over the 7.6 that the test went up to. i brought it down (with newly aquired pH down). i don't think it was as low as i wanted to go, but it was better for sure.

i am gonna transplant the ladies. i've got to get the new clone/mom cab done first though. i'll just "borrow" it to finish flowering the ladies. i'll keep four in each probably. i need to go pick up a few more things.

i think after i chop miss gnarly i'm gonna re-veg her and get clones. she is head and shoulders above the bunch!

i'm also gonna start acquiring the parts for my either ebb & flow or DWC setup. i still can't decide which way to go.

shake, i've been tossing a few ideas around in my head for a ebb and flow table in a rubbermaid tote. i'll draw up a diagram if you don't follow.

so here's what i'm thinking (i'll put material list 1st):

-one 18 gallon rubbermaid tote with lid, lightproofed
-two five gallon buckets, lightproofed
-~2' of 1/2" tubing
-drill with 1/2" bit
-~2' of 1/2" pvc pipe
-2 small water pumps (75 gph should do it)
-6-10 used 2 liter bottles, with bottom cut off and lightproofed
-a timer

so my idea is to have the lid of the rubbermaid tote drilled into for 6-10 pieces of pvc pipe. a 2 litre bottle fits perfectly into this dimenision of pvc. with 2 five gallon buckets on either side of the tote, you have your reservoirs. a pump in each with the tubing running into holes on each side of the tote floods the tote. and if you need some hydroton to fill your inverted 2 liters (or some light-blocking covers), seriously, we'll get in touch.

otherwise, the DWC method i'm using (i ditched the litter containers, but my friend is still going strong in one) is working out well. i've now opted for the 4 pack of office trash cans found at sams club. one $15-$20 air pump per each and a $2 airstone per each is working well, so please, let me bring you to the darkside...

i was thinking of something similar to your ebb/flow setup. i have a box that is 45.5" x 21" x 24" (l x w x h). so i was gonna go with two of the underbed storage totes. i think they calculate to like 16 and some odd gallons. (my math could be off, it's been a while). i was gonna use one in the box for the flood table and one out of the box for the res.

obviously some pvc and a water pump. timer. viola. find the best pots (something not too big and square, i think). what do you think?

and is DWC the darkside? i guess i could do it on a smaller level? i'd like to do some sort of perpetual SOG. although, this is still in the air. i just figured it would be best instead of growing some monsters.

what kinda harvest schedule etc are you talking?

as far as harvest schedule goes, in my head anyways:
from my mother, take 6 clones every 2 weeks. out of those 6, pick the best 2. veg for 2 weeks. after they're done vegging, its time for 6 more clones from the mother. wash, rinse, repeat. after each set's 2 week veg, into flower they go. if you have ten holes and a 60 day finishing time, you could harvest 2 plants every 2 weeks at about 1.5-2' each. it would just be a staggered harvest. so two plants in for two weeks, then two more, then two more, then two more and a harvest, then two more and a harvest, then two more and a harvest, etc...

oh and about the square pots in the ebb/flow... i was thinking also of some 20oz solo cups with some holes made via the old shitty soldering iron i have. voila, net pots!

what size bloom area do you have? hmm, DWC does sound tempting. either way.

what are you pulling off of those 2 plants at harvest?

i was thinking if i could pull 8 ladies every two weeks and get 30 grams (not sure how feasible this is yet, i don't have any experience backing my guesstimations) then that's obviously pretty nice.

i'm not opposed to DWC. it was my first thought. i just don't have a lot of room (still) so i'm trying to get the most bang for my buck.

i guess i could always *gasp* build a little box and not use a cardboard one? build an all-in-one.

how many actual DWC units/totes/what-have-you do you have? i'd like to do a few different strains. although this can be done with moms and a rotating schedule.

as far as harvest schedule goes, in my head anyways:
from my mother, take 6 clones every 2 weeks. out of those 6, pick the best 2. veg for 2 weeks. after they're done vegging, its time for 6 more clones from the mother. wash, rinse, repeat. after each set's 2 week veg, into flower they go. if you have ten holes and a 60 day finishing time, you could harvest 2 plants every 2 weeks at about 1.5-2' each. it would just be a staggered harvest. so two plants in for two weeks, then two more, then two more, then two more and a harvest, then two more and a harvest, then two more and a harvest, etc...

oh and about the square pots in the ebb/flow... i was thinking also of some 20oz solo cups with some holes made via the old shitty soldering iron i have. voila, net pots!

i oughtta just rename myself DIY_Master... :jointsmile:



The way I interpret it 1.5 - 2 oz.s every 2 weeks. By the way nice set up you have going..

30g off of 8 plants is very feasible, friend. best harvest off one 1.5' plant was 32g. under CFLs. :jointsmile: although, a safer estimate is 50g per two plants @ 1'.

currently my flower cab is approx. 3.5'Wx2.5'Dx4'T

at the moment i have 4 DWC containers for my flower cab, though i'm using only one (gonna start flowering old mom). i use the 4 pack of garbage cans at sams club, and can fit up to 6 in my flower cab.

my mother is doing very well, thank you! her surgery seems to have worked and she doesn't need to wake up for pain meds during the night anymore. she's hoping that once the entry sites heal, she'll be pain-free! for now its "a different kind of pain" in her words, but not as bad, so hooray!

i'd upload a photo of my other "mom" (since i'm sure some others are confused) but apparently my SD card is unreadable. sadness. its an opium clone, very bushy and smells like grapefruit 2 days into flower. if i get the SD thing figured out, i'll post a pic on my decrepit grow log.

what's good everybody? here is the long awaited update! sorry to keep everyone waiting. stuff has been pretty nuts. anyway, here goes:

i built a new mom/clone box. the dimensions are like 18.5 x 18.5 x 24 (l x w x h). i just through in a 3-light vanity bar, 3x Y splitters, 2 x 2700K; 1600 lumen bulbs, 4x 6500K; 1600 lumen bulbs.

i found a pack of four, 120mm pc fans for $15 at fry's. they move plenty of air, something like 42CFM and run at 19.6dB. used two of them and a 12VDC power converter.

i used a hot glue gun and glued black panty hose over the intake and exhaust. they seem to do a good job of keeping the light out.

i picked up two, six inch fans. i put one in the old box and one in the new. the old box actually dropped in temp (the intakes are arranged with one on each side, one in the back with the exhaust up top). the new box temp raised by 10 degrees! (this one has the whole intake in the back with the exhaust up top.) any ideas here?

i transplanted the 8 flowering ladies into 3-gallon pots. so 4 of them are currently occupying the mom/clone box!

the other 4 remained in the old flower box.

all of the youngsters are doing fine. they are nice and big. i would have taken a pic but they are in the 36-hour darkness period before i switch them to 12/12.

i plan on putting on of the new computer fans on the old flower box. i am also gonna hot glue black panty hose over the intakes and exhaust.

the ladies are looking okay. i trimmed some leaves (bad i know). they were pretty messed up though.

i think i have updated about the water pH situation.

the ladies buds don't seem to be getting much bigger. i'm sure it's just a worry-some papa. they still have a few weeks to go.

i think that's about it. if i'm forgetting anything i'm sure someone will remind me! forgive me a again as i'm a little under the weather today.

hey shake -
your temp problem in the new box is the oscillating fan. those cpu fans work great, when they don't have to move already-moving air. if you can get by without the fan in there, do it. otherwise, you'll have to reconfigure its location, since you already have the exhausts in place.
another tip for temp control: intake at least 2x as big as exhaust. i'd do 3x or 4x with the pantyhose though.

everything is looking good, bud. that hermie saddens me. if you pick up some butane or acetone, you could salvage it in some hash.

yeah, i don't run the fan in the new box anymore. it stays 78-80 without, so really no need.

i only have a 1:1 intake/exhaust ratio at the moment. i don't want to put too many holes in my box. maybe i'll add another intake on each side.

i didn't have a hermie my first go round, with the same setup, minus the pantie hose. once again, not saying that this couldn't have happened.

all of the buds on the other ladies are continuing to grow, so i don't know if they got some of that pollen or not? only time will tell i suppose.

i just believe that it takes more than a little light during a dark period for it to hermie. i mean hell, there are stars and full moons in the night sky. the hermie-ing of a plant is to continue on the genetic line, so i would think it's something that doesn't happen quite as often as people would like to think.

these are all bag beans. and once a plant hermies the seeds have a tendency to do the same.

therefore, that's why i believe it was genetic.

okay, back from my flogging! and here is the update.

i decided to chop the ladies down. i know, i know. they could have and should have went at least another week to 10 days. but i say the sativa (or sativa dom) was nothing but a seedy mess so i chopped all of them. i cleaned both boxes well with a bleach/water solution.

i didn't take a wet weight, but i'll ring in with a dry total. i let it hang dry for four days or so and then put it into brown paper sacks. today i put them into mason jars.

on the up-and-comers front, they have been flowering for a bit now. they seem to be taking there time showing their privates. they have some nerve!

i put for the four "dank" plants that got chopped back into veg. i want to get clones from miss gnarly. i know it's impossible to tell her lineage, but i'm pretty sure she was/is white widow. either way, she looked nice. plus it's time to learn how to clone! especially if there are new beans in the future!

I love cigarillos as my PB (personal blunt). I def. love some blunts. I will get a cigar from the store rather than smoke a bowl or pipe. I like the time spent smoking just as much as the high. Plus I have a lot of friends who like to chief the blunt so I usually have to get something bigger that will last longer for those chimney smokers. Then I have those mooch smokers that lurk out of nowhere every so often. Every time they come around I think of Snoop Dogg coming from the side of the stoop on Half Baked to chief Thurgoods joint :smokin: Crack up everytime!

The service was pretty good, took exactly two weeks after they sent me email letting me know they got the money. I sent $40 cash for blueberry and they gave me skunkberry free. Only thing is 5 BB got crushed and 2 Skunkberry got crushed :wtf: Did not bother me too much considering I only spent $40 for 2 diff strains and still ended up with 13 seeds instead of 10.

i feel ya on the blunts. i'm a blunt person too! that might change once i get the vape that i want. i'll still smoke blunts though.

i hear ya on the seeds. it still sucks that they got crushed though. i'm either gonna go with them or attitude. and clones direct is back up. there are a couple of clone only strains there that i want, but i'll have to wait on those.

The free Fem Diesel Is actually the most vigorous of the seeds i planted largest fastest growing. Packaging was just a little puffy manila envelope seeds came in original packaging and labeled for their free ones. Id recommend them and the seem to have just about every breeder there is. and great deals on a lot of seeds.

i never actually read it. i just googled it. i tried to register for the forums too. i'll let you know.

as far as strains, the ones in stock would be pre-98 bubba kush, purple kush, banana og, sour diesel x purple kush and the gdp.

there are more on the mother plant list, obvoiusly!

thanks dive! i'm now gonna start stashing money away to get a real setup. i want to go hydro (flood/drain, or DWC, possibly the ebb/grow!) and use a 600W HPS. i would like a digital ballast and the dual 600 lumatek would be nice (granted i haven't read any reviews). but i'd settle with a homemade setup with a cheap 600!

hey attitude just switched from giving away the 5 TSS seeds to giving away a feminized "blue venom" seed with every purchase. Wish they had been doing that when i bought my seeds. thought id give you a heads up before they switch back.:thumbsup:

watch out guys...I guess you can get a clone.... grow a very healthy plant....cut the lights and have it be subsetable to white power mildew.

I have found out that the GPD has a very low tolerance and gets it or has it bred in it:wtf:

Out of all the clones I got from Clonesdirect the Kushes showed no signs of the powder .....but the Sour D Did....I had to spray all my 15 plants with a peroxide water mix

Was reading that if the mother has it it will be passed along to all cuttings:wtf::wtf::mad:I really hope thats not the case....would hate to loose GDP

whats up shake long time. sorryi havent been around i got out of the growing thing. thought i had a baby on the way so i got out of it. and had to move back with my mom due to her bad health problems. im thinkin of planting a few seeds in my back yard though got a huge back yard withs trees and shit all over the place to hide it it would be nice

yea shes doin good now. but yea i need to get a hold of some seeds to plant. our back yard has like 2 sections our back yard that is fenced in then you can go out of the fence and it has a little like picnic area then drops off to the creek its real nice i could hide em up by my neighbors privacy fence which would be good.

i just spent some money on the new grow box and then ended up gettting a 360 and guitar hero world tour (complete band). but that's fine because it will give me time to finish up with what's working right now!

Dont water any more often than necissary,PH=5.8,PPM= 800 for veg. 1000 for flower,change the water every 2-3 week's.And that's all there is too it man.The only reason i go in my room is to look at the pretty's,everything run's itself,I can ignore it for 7 day's at a time with no problem.
