View Full Version : Purple Days = Metal Lungs?

So this might be a little odd sounding, and I don't know how to fully describe it, but since the GF and I have gotten our PD, I wake up with a metallic taste in my mouth, especially when I exhale and let the air run over my taste buds.

I'm virtually certain that this taste is coming from the PD.

Has anyone had the same experience, and/or know what's going on?

Thanks for the input.

possibly lack of flushing properly. leaves minerals and such. could give that metallic taste.

Not sure how close the lineage is but this last run of mendo purps I did was the same way. I was pretty sure it was because of a compilation of mistakes I made that assed 'em up, because I flushed bout 10 days and the leaves were yellowed decent. It smelled like candy and tasted that way at first flame but aftertaste was like a dark chocolate penny, if that makes sense. It also made an excess of "lung oysters" lol

lung oysters?! haha, thats better than my favorite, "lung butter"

Nah, it's definitely not a flushing issue.

It's not something I taste as I vape, it seems like more of a 'residual' effect from the PD itself.

I notice it especially when I wake up and have my morning 'lung oyster' session, hah.

Been over 3 months since I quit smoking, and my poor lungs still have a lot of purging to do. I don't want to add more crap into them with a product that SHOULD be helping me be healthy.

Not something I've experienced, and it's been my #1 vape choice for going on 10 months. Nor have I heard the complaint from any of 50 odd PD users who have commented on their units over at fuckcombustion.com. Are you hitting it really hard?

The only thing that I can think of is the weed has that ''earthy'' taste to it, not sure how a vape would make something taste odd but I am curious.

Good luck bro!

Yo all you talking down on the PD really should read more on it before you make such claims. Fuck Combustion - Vaporizer Forum / Purple-Days Experience (http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=48&p=1)

72 pages worth of rave reviews/tips on how to use it better to your advantage

I own a Purple-Days vaporizer, and i believe its one of the best vaporizers I own. Its the most efficient vaporizer EVER, and one of the more tasty vapors I have hit.

couple things I do to relieve of the "lung butter" (if you could even call it that. I mean face it...compared to smoking, whats worse PD "lung butter" or yellow loogies?)

~If you have a 14.5 GONG bong then you can easily hook up a PD stem(bowl) into the joint 100% air tight

~get silicone tubing...its safe and easy to use with the PD. I find it quite handy for those larger clouds.

~create small chambers to vape out of...I made one http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q204/hennessy1414/fkfkfdkdf.jpg
~put some water in your mouth and create a mini bubbler

look at all of these ideas^ if you really cant handle all that icky "resin" :D

best part of the PD is knowing your getting that warm creamy hit and and then.....ahhh that was a nice rip :hippy:

the vapor stem is 1/2" OD (tubing size!!)

3/8" ID works for smaller silicone

That's pretty bad dude. I got rid of the phlegm issue about a week after substituting vapor for smoke. Are you vaping 24/7?

There's nothing about the PD's stainless steel heat exchanger that would account for your description of 'metal lungs'. If it was a problem, why wouldn't the aluminum block heat exchanger on the Volcano be a problem? And stainless steel is what they use to make high quality water bottles.

You've started two threads on this vape. First you're a skeptic of the vapor shown in a video, calling it smoke when it can't get hot enough to combust. Now you're saying it's giving you 'metal lungs'. Why don't you get yourself a vape with an all glass vapor path to ease your suspicious mind?

Yeah I smoke 1.3g to 1.5g a day, plus 5 or so cigarettes. And once I switched to vaping my morning loogies were gone. Very rarely do I get some phlegm in my throat, but noting at all like smoke. I've been trying to put some money together for a PD, but I keep finding others things I need. Like the new E-Flight Blade CX3 helicopter :stoned:

E-Flight Blade CX3 helicopter That looks cool. Thanks for showing me another toy my wife will give me a hard time about. ;)

Put away some lunch money for that PD. It's a jewel. I think it's safe to say nobody else will ever put out a vape that takes as long to make, and sells in this price range. And when you throw in the highest durability and efficiency, it's a 'gotta have' IMO.

Hi todd, I think I know what you mean. I've used the PD for nearly a year (using different vape now) and even though its a great little vaporizer it did leave a taste on my mouth a bit. Hard to explain but basically the same as the smell if you put your nose near the chamber. I also suffered with a sore mouth sometimes which I think was the heat drying my mouth. I was using it excessively mind. The taste will always be tainted somewhat with these designs compared to glass. I think the PD would be a much nicer experience with a longer glass stem.
