Hello. I had a small tragedy where I lost a plant(my only one near harvest and i'm almost dry!. I had a nasty flu and didnt check them in 1.5 days and she dried out in a 4 gallon bucket bubbler. I know I'm dumb. Anyways I re-nuted her and she ended up dying. the leaves are shriveled and the buds are a bit crispy, but theres still a minor amt of moisture, it's maybe been dead 2-3 days (the dryout was between mon and tues). My question is, the plant was at about 7 weeks, and theres plenty of frosty bud, but is it smokeable? I know it may be harsh due to it's non-prefect harvest scenario and non-flush, but do I run any serious health risks? It's not moldy(if anything my humidity is way too low below 30%, which is why she drank so much.). A friend said he thinks he read that if it just dies without being cut down it loses major potency. ANy thoughts??:(

Can you post some pics?

If Its nice and there still some buds, Take them. Clip them off, Take an orange or tangerine, Peel it. Get high eat it. Take the peel and the bud. Throw it in a mason jar. And open it every day for an hour for a weak straight. And it should be all good to go.

Its hard to see by reading your post, My advice is to try my advice.

Thats as good as it gets my brotha.

Yeah...quit listening to your friend. It's dead, not going to grow any more, and isn't going to get better just sitting there.
Cure it, and smoke it.

Same thing happened to a friend of mine. He tried to cure and smoke it, but it was AWFUL. I mean, really, really bad. Almost no high, and dished out a killer headache. But i think his plant was dead a while before he tried.

Its worth a shot, if you dont have anything else.. but dont expect a whole lot.

Hey all thanks for the answers. I knew that obviously a plant has to die to smoke it. I just was curious about cutting it down as opposed to it dying on its own. Well, So far so good. It tastes good and definately works, and thats not even cured properly yet, just the smaller popcorns that were dried. It was close to harvest anyways, I was worried about not flushing it, but I've noticed that in DWC the lack of medium means it doesnt get built up with nutes. Ive noticed no added harshness or odor/taste. Its a c99xbb so it tastes just like it usually does, like blueberry lemonade! (seriously...mmmmmm:thumbsup:) The dwc bucket just was completely empty for a day and since the leaves were already falling off due to harvest nearing, it wouldn't rebound. NO probs, it didnt completely finish swelling, but i got 2.25 oz out of it, plus some trim for cookies!!

Oh, i did forget to mention that this friend is an eternal pessimist. Again I do want to mention that I thought that there shouldnt be a difference between a plant that died of thirst and one that I chopped (other than the non flushing). I was just being sure. Kind of in a way that I'd have no problem eating an animal that was just killed and prepped, but not so much one that I just found dead somewhere. Just worried about bacteria and stuff of that nature, not "can I smoke a dead plant?" in the same vain as "Should fire be so hot?" I also noticed that this bud has really no chemical taste to it. When I pick buds off early in times of need, they do have a slight harshness and bitterness, but maybe since the dwc ran dry for a bit, it used up what was stored in the plant, and the lack of medium meant no stored up salts for the roots!! Just a guess but I am very pleased at the quality of this mistake bud. Could also just be that this strain is pretty good! Wish it had bigger buds under the 400 hps but with my upcoming scrog setup I'm not worried about yield! :smokin:
