whats an estimated difference one would see in final yield, potency & flowering using CFL's as opposed to 600w HPS.

Watt for Watt HPS will provide larger flowers which are much more dense then they would be if you used CFL's.

If you have the ability get a HPS, don't waste your time with cfls if you don't have to.

CFL's can produce around 60 lumens per watt. A good 600W will produce 160 lumens per watt...

For excellent flowering growth you want 5000+ lumens per square foot. It's going to be pretty hard to get that at all with CFL's. Don't get me wrong, i've seen good CFL grows before, but the BEST grows i've ever seen are with HPS or something similar.

If your grow is 4'x4' or bigger, def get a HPS. If it's more like 2'x2' or 2'x3', CFL's would probably be more practical.

I have 5x3 of grow space with 2 plants and it's light up with 18 CFLs total 30 000 lumens. Come see my grow!

CFLs can produce good yields if you use a sufficient amount of them. I have a buddy who grows in a small cabinet with all CFLs and gets reasonably good results. Around 0.75 to 1.0 oz per plant.
