Wow
Just watching Flight of the Concords tokin' a bit and came across this
It was a recipe for trouble that resulted in elementary school students becoming sick. The woman who made pot-laced brownies that her son shared with classmates says she's sorry, and says just wants her son back.
It all started along a busy street in Chico. A 6th grader was waiting to board his school bus near the bus stop when he allegedly shared some pot-laced brownies with some other kids waiting to get on the bus. Within hours, one of the students started feeling sick. Tonight, the mother of the boy who shared the brownies says she made a major mistake.
"I've never been arrested," said Jennifer White, the mother who made the brownies. "I miss my son and I want him home," she added.
Teary-eyed, Jennifer White has temporarily lost custody of her son, after he admitted to school officials at Emma Wilson elementary in Chico that he was in possession of pot brownies that his mom had made.
"I can't believe it's come to this extreme," said White. "There's other parents out there that do bad drugs and they get their kids back for less than a brownie. I'm not justifying my actions. I swear. It was wrong that I made these brownies and it's wrong that he got a hold of it, and it's wrong that the other children got a hold of it, but I'm not a bad mom."
White says the brownies were in the oven last Thursday morning when jade grabbed several and headed to bus stop where he told police that he shared them with other students.
"Initially he denied that he knew what was in the brownie, but later did admit that he knew what was in the brownies," said Rob Merrifield, Chico Police Dept.
Once at school, an 11-year-old girl who ate a brownie told teachers she was dizzy and sleepy. That's when police say Jade admitted that he knew the brownies were bad.
"We need to look at discipline with this student, and we also need to look at how can we help this student out," said Bob Feaster, Chico Unified Schools representative.
"I made a mistake and i want my son back," said White.
So with the moms admission, police could possibly have a solid case of child endangerment against the mother, but they've chosen not to arrest her -- just yet. Instead, they're forwarding the case to the DA's office, letting them decide how many charges this mom could face.
In all, six kids ate some of the tainted brownie. Police say Jade will likely not be charged for sharing the brownies with those students.
The school district is planning a meeting with parents once kids return from winter break.
