Anyone a doctor? Know Throat Infections?

OK so here is the story
About two months ago I had a throat infection, which turned into a bad cold. Felt like I had a lump of phlegm in my throat that I couldn't get out. So I went to the doctor, and she prescribed Amoxicillan(sp?). This took the throat pain away immediately..I kept taking it for a few days(was supposed to take 3 a day for 10 days)..but I stopped short of finishing them.
A few days ago I felt the same symptoms return...bad sore throat, feels like there is that lump there. Also, the upper back of my neck is super sore on both sides. I have a feeling it may have returned because I didn't take the pills as I was supposed to..I know I know...
So the pain is unbearable, and I decided to take one of the pills I still had. Whether or not this was a good idea I don't know...but a little while after taking it I was able to cough up some phlegm...only problem is it was bloody:(
I am super worried about this and hope that the blood is only from an infection in the throat and not something more serious.
Seeing a Dr. in the morning, but any immediate help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated!! This is really freaking me out:wtf:

Well, I'm a nurse....will that do? It sounds like your throat infection is back. The little germies will become resistant to medication if you don't finish your scripts. It is OK you took the Amoxicillin. Go to the doctor. You are probably gonna live:) Don't freak out.

Is amoxicillin an antibiotic?? I'm not sure on that, but if that's the case (that it's an antibiotic), I know that antibiotics can be completely useless if you stop short even by one pill...just my 2 cents.

You've confirmed my suspicions, LolaGal...glad to hear that. Hopefully the doc will prescribe me a enough to make the dosage adequate, and I'll make sure I don't screw it up!
And SS84, i think so...and i know I shouldn't have fucked with it...but I did so all I can do is try to remedy it.

Have Dr. do a throat culture and sensitivity with a swab and get in those sore areas with the swab. Then they call tell for sure what infection is exactly and you can get the right medicine.. With the history of bleeding, should be no problem to culture. damn HMOs.

Also try to save a good lugey back for office visit and let them get a sputum sample.

See you in followup after visit here. Will make appointment to meet in a week for further followup. You now have a private nurse for this disease only! No charge.

Well I went this morning, and she did do a swab of the throat to see if it is strep or whatnot...said the results would be back tomorrow and that they will call with a prescription if i need one. So ... "now we play the waiting game.....ahhh waiting game sucks lets play hungry hungry hippos!" - Homer.
