Without knowing cfm you can only guess. Does it seem to really huff some air? That design usually does so should be plenty for that tiny space. They are just noisy when solid mounted. Put flex duct on int and exhaust and hang it from a bungee, helps alot

i google on my fan and this what they told me..The cfm is 212 at 0" Ps, 172 cfm at .25" Ps
will that work in my 3x3x8' room? if i put a carbon filter on it will it burn it up?

In my 4' x 2' x 7' tall closet, (400w MH plus occational CFL suppliments) I use a 12" circulating fan, and it works fine. 600watters get pretty hot tho. I'd set her up, and see if the heat will be an issue before making any decisions. You'll have to see what the carbon scrubber requirements are for CFM, too.

Are you just exhausting out of the closet into the room, or are you planning on routing it outside? Are you running a batwing, or a hooded reflector with glass and an exhaust vent? Just curious because what you can do is determined by what you have, lol.

hello rusty.. the fan is being used for heat purpose's exhausting through the attic.. hood i have is a bat wing..

i'm just worried it's not efficient enough, i'd hate to cut a square hole if it's not enough.. lol

if worst comes to worst i'll get a 4"vortecx fan, but there expensive... lol

You could do a 'dry-run...a temporary routing, to the room just out of the closet. See what configurations you can come up with, and how it heats up the closet. Gives you a good starting point. In a small space, a hooded/vented reflector would be preferable, as you could hook-up the exhaust fan "in-line".

If you cut a hole, and mount it there, will it vibrate? Ya might need sound dampeners. (rubber mounting gromets that deaden vibration)

Have you tried to run the light in there yet? Have you tried using a simple oscillating fan at the closet opening? It's what I use, but my light is only 400w.

IMO you will be fine with that but i recommend placing a bit of activated carbon in front of the outlet. Good luck & w00t!
