I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes, and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to earn that pay check, I work on a rig site for a Fort McMurray constructionproject.

At any time I am required to pass a random urine test, with which I have no problem. HOWEVER, what I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.

Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Understand - I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do on the other hand have a problem with helping someone sit on their arse, drinking beer and smoking dope.

Could you imagine how much money this country would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check

Peoples mind set...........but its true

A good idea ?????

Oooh that is a very good question. I feel that those who are on welfare and are kicking back not doing anything do not deserve welfare in the first place. If you are on welfare you should be trying to figure ways to pull yourself up by the bootstraps and make your life better. I am fully willing to help someone get back on their feet when they need it but I am fully against helping people be lazy. If those lazy people enjoy a drink or a smoke thats their business but they really shouldn't be on welfare in the first place. I think instead of a submitted drug test they should provide evidence that they deserve the money they are receiving and are trying to get back on their feet not mooch off the peoples taxes. If they required welfare mandatory urine tests, responsible welfare recipients that enjoy cannabis could be effected and I would not want to do that to them. Just my 2 cents.

hmm wow what a conundrum for me... I am a libertarian at heart but I vote as an evil wicked conservative on many issues. I voted for McCain for example even though I despise him for being a liberal. But on the other hand I think weed should be 100% legal and people should be able to deal it out as professionals like Beer or Cigarette companies do. I think it is unfair to force test welfare recipients for drugs because ultimately that comes down to testing them for smoking pot. Which further keeps it taboo and illegal. Besides, what if the welfare recipients are blowing the money not on "drugs" and weed and are spending it on Beer or Liquor, because i grew up on welfare and watched my folks, and they spent theirs on not just alcohol and beer but shit for me and my brothers and sisters. Any half way intelligent pot smoker shouldn't be paying $$$ for pot anyway. Even casual smokers can pick up extra pot and sell some and smoke the profit for free with their money back.

I dunno, I do feel as an angry stereotypical conservative, that welfare is bad and its a bullshit premise to boot. People shouldn't be getting free money. So I can understand why people might be willing to put their own personal interests aside (being able to smoke pot themselves legally or without persecution) and kick those lazy welfare leaches off the rolls. But ultimately I think it will be easier to stick to our morals and aim to strengthen our cause in legalizing bud.

I would only be for UA tests if they had some sort of a program available for them to get off the more addictive drugs. Most people that are abusing the hard drugs have mental issues that should be dealt with. Just because somebody tests postive for MJ shouldn't mean thay can't be helped through difficult times.

Treatment and education are far more effective tools against addiction and poverty than prison or starvation.

Welfare is just that. Helping those who are unable to work or (unfortunately) those who do not wish to work and are still able to get it. However, it is impossible to decide who falls in which catagory. To impose a drug test on those unable to work due to a dissability, and failing the test because they smoke marijuana for medical reasons, is unfair and unjust as not allowing those who need marijuana for medical reasons.
Instead of drug testing everyone on welfare it would be more reasonable to investigate and monitor recievers of welfare. There are plenty of people on welfare and really do not need it, working jobs under the table and living above poverty.

anyone on medical marijuana knows that you pay out of pocket for your medicine

anyone on prescription pills can goto walmart and get their shit for $7, but we pay full price for weed

to tell me that MY MONEY that is supposed to be paying for clothing and food is going to MARIJUANA for someones medical reasons is rediculous

america isnt socialist YET and hopefully it snaps out of this welfare mode
