Hey everyone, my English Professor sparked this idea in me to write a huge list of reasons why cannabis should be legal and I decided a 1,000 should be sufficient. I look on the internet and all I see is "Ten reasons weed should be legal". Forget that...I want someone to type in "why should weed be legal" and see 1,000 reasons instead of ten...it has much more impact. I obviously can't do this myself (well maybe I could but it would take a lot of weed and time hah) and wanted to get everyone in on this list with their thoughts and feelings.
I'll start it off with a solid 30 reasons, please add on to the list and lets see if we can reach this goal. This is not for school or anything, I just feel that a huge list of reasons for the substance to be legal is vital towards the fight for legalization. When or if we reach 1,000 reasons cannabis should be legal, we can send them to Change.gov and see what Oboma has to say about that :rastasmoke:.

P.S. Lets not link 1,000 ways weed can cure different diseases. We can still list them, just throw in some economical, logical, and lawful rights we have to smoke cannabis .

1. Its a safe substance
2. It has been around for 1,000's of years
3. Legalization would reduce jail overcrowding
4. It can be used to treat many problems i.e. glucoma, insomnia, anxiety, MS, anorexia
5. Legalization would reduce drug dealing in communties.
6. Cannabis has not been linked to cancer in any way
7. No one has died from smoking MJ
8. Making it an FDA controlled substance will reduce crime
9. Making it a FDA controlled substance will ensure that users get quality product with no risks
10. Putting an age limit *18* will make it so only responcible adults can purchase it.
11. If irresponcible adults purchase MJ for underage children, at least there not going to drug dealers.
12. Will create a new domestic market that will help U.S. ecomomy
13. New multi billion dollar market and a marijuana tax, like tobacco tax, that will help out schools, build roads, and improve daily life in general.
14. This new market will help pull us out of this economic delcine.
15. It would eliminate the fear of responcible adult users getting introuble with the law, or worse fired from their jobs.
16. It would back up california prop 215 by federally recognizing MJ as a legal medicinal substance.
17. Responcible cannabis clinics will not have to deal with FDA agents raiding their clubs and imposing on their state legal rights.
18. More research can be done on the substance to find all medicinal aspects of this plant.
19. Research shows 25 percent of americans smoke MJ, thats over 80 million people, something so used, with medical backing, and that causes no harm to the individual should be legal.
20. Other countries have legalized it and have much lower crime rates then the u.s.
21. Its been proven that individuals can act responsibly while under the influence of this substance
22. Its a powerful pain reliever and would help people with chronic pain
23. MJ isn't taken seriously, it is almost a joke to most americans.
24. 13 out of fifty states have gone against federal laws and legalized it for medicinal purposes
25. Alcohol is a substance that is much worse for you, and it is legal.
26. MJ is a mood enhancer not a deprecent like alcohol
27. 3/10 people smoke cannabis, and many people cannot tell when they are medicated
28. Tobacco smoke is much worse then cannabis for your lungs. Cannabis growers don't use rat poison or radioactive fertalizers on their product.
29. The war on cannabis has failed and needs change for the better.
30. Cannabanoid receptors are already in the human body,it is a part of us.

Hey Granny, I have viewed your sig many times before and it is definitely quite the list . BUT, as I said above: We need more then medical reasons for pot to be legalized. Right now the U.S. Gov. does not recognize any of these studies and denies them all to be true. I've been smoking cannabis for some time now, and the only real medical results I believe to be true is it cures stress, anxiety, nausea, anorexia, and pain in general; i.e. physical pain, mental pain, and the pain of life in genral. So what I want is to list the etheical, economical, medical, and humanitarian reasons that cannabis should be legal so that the government cannot deny it like they can some scientific study that they regulated in the first place. I hope this better explains what I am looking for.

Peace,

LV :pimp:

You should really make it 420 reasons...

EDIT:

I'm not gonna read through yours but here we go I'll see how many I can do.

1. The law was based on racist beliefs of Harry Anslinger and congress in general.
2. There have been zero recorded overdoses from cannabis ever.
3. Alcohol kills more people than cannabis, a mind-altering drug that is legal yet is much more harmful than cannabis.
4. Keeping cannabis illegal creates a black-market situation where the industry is untaxed and controlled by violent gangs.
5. It truly brings out the peaceful side to people, unlike alcohol.
6. The people have spoken, Obama's website Change.gov had an "open for questions" section where people could submit and vote on ideas they would like implemented, and the NUMBER ONE idea was regarding the legalization, regulation, and taxation of cannabis to create a billion dollar industry right here in the U.S.

That's enough for now.
