I just double potted my plant wich has been on 12/12 for two weeks exactly. I have heard this is a excellent way of doubling even tripling your yield if done while in vegetation. Double potting is not exactly a full transplant, which can cause stress that may show up in the flowers aka hermies. Has anyone done the double pot transplant after initiating 12/12? Results? ( I know alot of the results will be strain dependant.)

This i thought was a pretty standard type deal, i have always started my flower in small pots. Mainly to tell the sex before putting them in their final pots.

define "dramatic flower growth" please, at 12/12 for 2 weeks how much "bud" could possibly be there?

and how long did you keep them in veg?

I had the plant in vegetation for 6 weeks under 350 watt of warm white flouros. Now under 600 watt hps. Very noticable increase in pistals.

The benefits I see in double potting is that it's easier than doing a transplant and you get the benefits of the larger pot (larger root mass). The negative is that you end up ruining the pots since you cut the bottom out of it so you can't really reuse them.
The increase in size is due to going into 12/12, they hit their stretch period which is why they took off, I wouldn't solely attribute it to double potting which is just seems to me a different way of transplanting. And also you increased the lights from 350watt fluro to 600HPS, that's a big lumen difference. More photosynthesis = more growth.

Yes Philly, good points indeed. I cant attribute all the growth to the lights, being they were already under 12/12 for two weeks before the dp. I am suprised that not more people do the double pot. The roots really take off (roots=growth=flowers). Not only that but it will secure your plant will not have root overgrwoth or any other "root" issue.....

The regular potting method has always worked fine for me, never had any problems. I don't like the thought of destroying pots just to transplant. Plant pots (where I live anyway) are not that cheap, the cost of replacing them with every crop would mount up. I consider this an Unnecessary expense, plus I'd have to keep going back and forth to the DIY store which I could not be arsed doing.

i like transplanting for the simple fact of examining the roots and removing any dead growth or checking for any problems. yes, i am a rookie, but so what.

double potting is just a non messy way of transplanting... it's not going to give you a bigger yield or increase the potency... it's just a way of transplanting

O brilliant one!!!!! You have done nothing for the root ball it's still held back by the first pot. All you did was give the end roots more room to search for nutrients and spread out. Before you start calling everyone a rookie you should think twice.

Oh so sensitive...The reason for a double pot has nothing to do with wasting pots, looking at roots, sexing the plant or any of the other bullshit. It is soley for increasing the mass of the stalk and branches. This allows for more dense and lush buds beacause of the stalk size and support for bud growt..Refer to the Cannibis Bible page 71..... hey, i am the rookie over here.....i started my growth from seed into 2 gallon pots.....i am in week 5 12/12 , day 33/56 and my ladies look gorgeous.....what the hell is doublepotting anyway? i had the problem/question of what might happen if i did not transaplant my ladies into larger pots......one wise guy here told me ''look at the plants, they'll tell you what they need''.....i am glad that i did not transplant them.....two of them i know they are root bound.....even so the ladies are only a little bit more thirsty.....watering on every day basis solves any problems as long as you have top quality soil for the plants to grow into......anyway, will post my usual update on them in two days.....what i would like to add in here is that judging from i my grow i can say the following comments on our ''expert'' here.....your plants have not grown so much because of what you did with the pots......week 1&2 of 12/12 not many things happen....only a few pistils here and there....week 3 you see the first signs of budding....also, 340 watts of floros is not 340 watts of hps....i hope you get my point here and believe that it is not nesessary to say any more......ie....if you add a 1000watt hps alongside to your 600 watt hps i am very confident that you will see a growth of two-three inches every day.....ROOKIE :)

I'm sorry. in no way did I mean to imply that double potting is a lazy technique. Im sure it works fine if thats what you wanna do. That asshole with his new book looking down his nose at people pissed me off and I didnt know what else to type at the moment. Plus that big bowl didnt help much.

HAHAHAHA you guy are hilarious arguing over double potting well first things first i dont know if you will yield higher but they do say more roots more fruits but the thing is if your gonna cut the bottom off the pot ok that may be easy or more practical for you nooblets with 10 plants or something but for a guy like me with over 1100 plants in 1 galon pots i really doubt wasting all that money on new pots every month is gonna be benficial to my pocket just a thought hahaha nooblets.

If you folks would be a little more open to new grow concepts, I think you all would find yourselves a little less offended. Frankly, most of the reply's have been an attack on me because, obviosly, 99 % of those had no clue what double potting is...Nor have I gotten a reply from someone who was experienced in this process. And by the way, whats so wrong with being a rookie? Also, my information does not only come from a book, I used that for reference as some proof of this process. I have several friends who have seen massive results from this double pot thing...Its seems as though everyone has missed the point...AFTER 12/12?

just woke up from last nights' test drive of my twilight in day 33/56.....guys this stuff is great for sleep........anyway, who needs double potting? it seems stupid idea to do so.....for me it sounds more practical and useful to use one pot from start to finish and this is going to be applied by me in my future grows.....why not use one BIG 5-10 gallon pot instead of using two?......surely, i can understand the concept of double potting, but cutting the bottom 'only' of the pot and placing it on the bigger pot with soil leads to the spread out of the bottom roots only....hey man, did you get yourself up and high prior to starting this thread?.....also, get yourself started with a grow and then try to suggest things over here....books are good but one thing to remember is that if don't take action and apply the knowledge that you may have, you will never understand who things work...hey BOBBONG....i don't think this guy's an asshole....he's just a 15 yr old child that happened to have a book.... :)

incase you missed my setup, i'm completing my first successful grow. in under 3 months. I'm pretty proud of it actually, accomplished with limited space, money and i ran the risk of being caught...i was really biting my nails when they came to spray for roaches in my apartment (yeeeesh i didn't breathe for 5 minutes)

the only time you will see a few ounces of weed will be if you get lucky and see us posting our pictures from our harvests .....

some people call it double potting.

I grow my plants in a mixture of perlite and soil in the silver bags that the starbuck coffee ( for compost) grounds come in.

I just cut of the bottom of the bag and place the rootball in a almost full pot.

then the plant will stretch ot its roots into new soil.

I water from the outside of the bag for the rest of the cycle.
