I recently got back into the old hobby and purchased a 10 pack of Skunk No.1 from Nirvana. I have been told they are a reputably seed bank but never purchased from them before and honestly never will again. Their Skunk No.1 was slow growing from day one. Did not clone well, and the 4 females from the 10 seeds all hermied 20 days into flowering.

Let me repeat myself so I'm being clear. ALL 4 FEMALES HERMIED AT 20 DAYS!!

You might think that I in some way abused the plants but I'm an experienced grower. If you were a Marihemp faithful some years ago you might recognize my name. I absolutely babied this strain and they ALL HERMIED!!! I have 3 other batches in flower with those skunks and now I'm afraid it might all be a wash because of those garbage genetics.

LONG STORY SHORT-

DO NOT BUY SKUNK NO.1 FROM NIRVANA OR YOU'LL GET SKUNKED LIKE ME

Hey bowl,

Glad to hear your powerplant is goin strong, heard some good things about that strain. I was pretty surprised bout the skunk bein so bad. Heard good things about nirvana and sk.1 but it was garbage all the way through.

Might try contacting them like you said but I've heard some bad things about their service department/answering machine.

On the brighter side I picked up some of the original AK-47 from serious seeds that is the strongest, stinkiest strain I've ever had in the garden, and it came with a promo pack of 5 super skunk/thai seeds that are some pretty lookin sativas. I'll try and get some pics and a grow report up soon.

Got any pics of that PPP?

Try Super Skunk from Nirvana. This is the absolute best weed I have ever grown from seed, period. Super yield, super smell and taste. Its georgeous as well. Out of 4 females 2 were indica 2 were sativa phenos. All 4 were outstanding. One of the sativas turned black/purple.
They have been curing about a month now. When I take the lid off the jar it literally stinks up the whole house. You cant beat that for a 3$ seed.
I cant recommend this strain enough. A hidden gem, if you will.

Aren't you selling the Art of Cultivation a little short by referring to seed with mixed phenos "outstanding"?

I hate to hear this as I have 3 Nirvana strains under cultivation..................

The thing is, Nirvana's prices are low and their genes ARE pretty good quality; just not what I would describe as outstanding.

Enjoy your grow. I'm not here to slam Nirvana. You pretty much get what you pay for I guess.

So far so good. I'm keeping fingers crossed! I did go for Nirvana for the price! Gotta turn out better than the brick seed I tried before!

You get what you pay for. NRS is CHEAP and I highly recommend it to any grower who wants to sort through a packet and choose the pheno that best suits his grow area. I had terrible luck with their White Rhino in general, hermies, ugh, but got one individual ou to fthe pack that was so stellar that it became the stud in the Rhinofuck cross.
If you grow NRS, CLONE FOR SEX and keep your mothers, because you WILL find phenotypic variation in some of their strains. The Pure Power Plant won't show any though, as it is an IBL.

My current selection of NRS plants includes:
Skunk#1 male
Pure Power Plant female
Hindu Kush female
Papaya female

If I had to recommend one for noobs looking for trouble-free huge yields, get the papaya. Seriously. But keep your humidity down because football sized buds mould like a right bastard.

Stinkyattic, you definitely sound like a pro. Have you ever tried growing Nirvana Ice and what kind of luck did you have with it if you did?

Thanks,

Lead.

Mmmm....football sized Papaya nugs.. Sounds soooo good. I'm currently trying Nirvana's NLHaze, White Rhino and California Orange Bud. Wish I could try every strain anyone mentions..... So far Rhinos seem a little weaker, probably my fault. Guess I better finish what's on my own plate first, then try others when I can.... I'm keeping my fingers crossed for at least one girl of each. But still have some more beans in the fridge, Just In Case!

How many strains do you have in all Stinky? I guess 46. Do I win a prize if I'm right? I would love to have one of those green jars I've seen in your pics.:D

I haven't run the Ice but have heard good things about it.
The White Rhinos that hermied on me came from a seed batch that was released ~3 years ago. I have seen enough grumpling about that batch that there's NO WAY Nirvana is not aware of the problems, and it would not surprise me if subsequent releases were more stable.

Funny you should guess that number, because including the males I hold for breeding, my strain count is almost exactly that. Weird. You win some free plant counseling services! ;)

The Nirvana Ice seedlings seemed a little wimpy too. I was thinkin the grower's fault as well but by the look of other comments maybe not. They definitely seem to need the flouros early on.

Hee, hee. What a good guesser. I am so glad to win that prize! Best prize ever...

Must have been my finely honed psychic powers....I am good at finding dead bodies too. Practice all the time on re-runs of Unsolved Mysteries....the body is in the pond, I say! Then Update we found her in the pond! LOL.

Let's see....you are wearing a green shirt and jeans right now........

I've had good luck with all but one grow off nirvana seeds. Have grown white widow, white rhino,Ak48,B52 and Ice...Ice was the worse all germed and not one cracked.. Got the B52 and Ice from Nirvana shop..The others form the the Bay..All from seedbay popped and were sweet plants. Can't say the same from nivana. Got maybe 6 0r 7 females from the b52 with 1 keeper and that was the last seed in the pack i germed. So can't complain. The Rhino , widow and Ak48 were top notch for me, no hermies ever and the sweetest ,crystal cover buds ever and swear it all 3 smelt of cherries..
