Alright my time to vent....
I have been toking for a while now and all I have noticed is that pot hasn't made me the smartest person in the world.... On the other hand, my female friend over here tokes more than I do and she probably has an IQ of a genius. Could there be any cause of this? I mean she loves to wake and bake every morning before going to class. God forbid I try that, I would not be able to pay attention for shit. Anyway.... Is there something im not getting or is she really just a born genius. I have tried talking to her and she says she is not that smart... but a 32 on the ACT (taken while stoned) when she was in high school 2 years ago is not normal haha. What do you think the reason is?

Avoiding the obvious jokes that I could toss your way, it's probably more an issue of the weed having different effects on different people and the fact that everyone processes information differently. Much like you, I can't function very well when it comes to academics or work when I'm high. On the other hand, my artistic side is somewhat enhanced as is my tolerance for repetitive work. Then again, maybe her professors just have a weakness for young girls.

Different effects on different people
different genetics makes for different IQ's
different ways of being brought up make for different IQ's
blend of these 3

Yes....she is a genius. You see pot doesn't make you smart nor does it make you dumb. It simply makes it harder for you to remember things. Think about that for a second....have you ever found it hard to understand concepts because you smoke pot, or is it just hard to remember those concepts you understand? Thats the fundamental difference right there. It makes it hard to remember rather than making it harder to understand something. The reason why many people confuse this with being dumb is because you have to have a good memory in order to remember what you understood....if that makes sense. They share a nice symbiosis with each other but memory and understanding are two different things.
For me I have no problem smoking everyday. The problem arises when I mix the two together. I can learn and understand while high....it's just my memory loss is augmented so two hours later I'm going to totally forget what I just read or learned. It is slightly more difficult to remember things but its more or less those stupid little things such as the laundry example rather than something big like, I forgot to go to my own wedding. But yeah to each is own though.

I personally find it easier to figure some concepts when Im high. IDK its wierd but when im toking it up and listening to tunes I am always thinking of solutions to random problems. And i pretty much always come up with a solution and am like"damn, its so obvious how did i not think of that". The weed doesnt make me any smarter it just helps me better concentrate on a subject. To bad i always forget about what i was talking about. Short term memory FTL:rastasmoke:
But like said before, it just depends on the person

lol the only time Weed has ever helped me understand a concept was when I was high in my Intro to Art and Media class. For some reason every time he explained what he wanted on the paper he sounded like he was on acid....but the second I got stoned he reiterated the prompt and I completely understood it.

For me, there's a lot of times where ive been high and a problem/question/wahtever ive been ragging my brain just clicks, and i have a eureka moment like zeigeist.
The way i see it, weed just lets you look at the idea/problem/whatever from an outside view of things. Its like i can eject myself out from a situation and see exactly what i was doing with it, and how iw was approaching it. Its liek all the feelings and all the thoughts you have on that problem or whatever, are created by your ego, and when im high, its like i can see that all in front of me, and so it lets me think of new ideas that arent built up around that "ball" if that made any sense at all...
One of my teachers in high school would always tell us to go watch a movie with your friends the night before a test instead of studying for an essay-type exam. He thinks this is the best because instead of just memorizing ideas, watching a movie gives your mind a break from thinking about the subject. and lets it relax and subconsciously absorb/understand the concepts, which causes "eureka" moments, as he called them. I basically think weed does the same thing for me. Its like it "refreshes" my thinking pattern sort of, so i end up having an outside perspective on things, and therefore getting those "eureka" moments.
...i dunno..it makes sense to me..haha

Exactly! It also happens with me! Weed gives an "outsider" perspective...

Me three on the outside perspective qualities of my beautiful Mary.. when she is in my system, I have the most tangent-inspired epiphanies. Abstract concepts seem perfectly obvious, and 1 + 3 definitely equals whatever need be. Alternatively, I took the ASFAB while stoned and I now qualify for every job the military offers, including Nuclear and Space programs. Now for that pesky degree.. Same thing on my Good-Enough-Diploma.. stoned as hell and I missed a handful of questions. Mary was a tool for me to reach those states of mind without the 4000 hours of meditative concentration. Introspection is a favorite pasttime of mine..
But it enables you to relax your brain as well, and the people who enjoy those effects the most find themselves too relaxed to even care to remember trivial things. This is what I noticed was happening to my short term memory. Upon realization and corrective action, that side-effect became negligent.
