Hello all-- I'm an older man (56) living in the eastern part of New Mexico. I have had HIV for many years (since 1985) and got neuropathy when I took D4T (stavudine/Zerit) for several years, that has stayed with me and has become worse little by little even though I stopped the drug 7-8 years ago.

I tried marijuana and it helps the neuropathy symptoms (pain, burning, tingling, discomfort) as well as gives me an appetite when I'm sick and reduces nausea. So I am considering asking my doctor to recommend me for the state cannabis program.

What I'm wondering about, after reading the available literature at nmhealth.org/marijuana.html (http://nmhealth.org/marijuana.html) is whether or how probable it might be that by having my name and address in a state cannabis registry I might be "placing a red flag" over myself and my house as far as state and federal law enforcement organizations are concerned.

I know that a lot of marijuana users and growers must constantly deal with this issue. I personally feel that marijuana ought to be legalized, regulated and taxed by the government like cigarettes and alcohol, but just like tobacco and alcohol, people should be allowed to grow their own if they wish. That is my personal opinion. But the reality we live in right now in the mid-2000s is still the dark ages of marijuana prohibition.

Anyway, I just wondered if any others in New Mexico have worried about the issue of state and federal law-enforcement raids if one "advertises oneself" by being on the state's medical cannabis program.

I'm personally just grateful that things have now come to the point here in New Mexico, thanks to a lot of hard working and kind people, so that marijuana can be used legally as a medical treatment.

Hi, I recomend growing, get your card get state legale, and grow. Their has been no trouble with people getting busted or raided, when they are fully legale. Just dont tell anyone what your doing, with the exception, of the health department. As far as a list your going on, it is not the type of list your thinking off. As far as I know it is not even on a national level, it is a list in a room in the Santa Fe health depatment, and who would look at it, in the first place. You give your self to much credit in thinking that when you grow your 7 plants, you will be a mark in Washington, on every Drug agents, list. If anything you will be a mark on an health deparment's agents, list for him or her to come and check your grow room for safety.
