This is only my 2nd grow inside & i was wondering how long should i let my plants vegitate before turnning back the time to 12-12 & start flowering them?I was worried about them being to short & bushy but when i rasied the light up they took off.I figure they been vegging about 5 weeks now & i wasn't sure how long i should let them go before flowering time it's been a long time since i did inside grow.Thx for any info!

What kind of height limits you have, lights? You can go as big a wanted bro. Remember she is still going to stretch a bit in flower.

you plant will grow ~1/2 to 2/3 in flower, depending on your strain. so plan accordingly when deciding. if you know your genetics then this should be no problem. if you don't, then just error on the side of caution!

I have a 400 watt hortilux light & theirs 4 nice ladies in there & there about 10 inches high now & real bushy.I'm growing the A.M.S strain & Genetics: Swiss sativa, Swiss indica.I have them in 5 gallon buckets now,but i wished i hadn't put them in that big of bucket, but when i 1st started them i figured i'd go large so they wouldn't get root bound lol & i have atleast 6 foot height which to let them stretch up to the light.

holy hell. how long have were they vegging? you probably have a massive root structure which might cause them to get root bound before they have a chance to grow that big. i'm not positive on that, but it's worth a look. somewhere around here is the forum that deals with why you NEED to transplant your plant. i'll try to find it. live and learn.

Well i let them get some size in the small cup containers before planting them in 5 gal buckets but there only like 5 weeks into veggie so i wouldn,t think they,d be root bound already,i mainly have potting soil alittle sand and 1/2 vermiculite,so they have a soft base to grow in & alot room lol.Should i take them out of the 5 gal buckets & down size to smaller planters say 3/12 gal size?Or just let them grow, there really healthy and there stalks are like pencil size and i hadn't had no signs of yellowing of leaves yet or wilting at all!

i wasn't saying that they are root bound. i'm just saying they were porbably busy growing underneath the soil and not so much above it, that's all.

-shake ( I get what your saying now headshake, the roots are growing faster than the plant itself because of all the room that the big buckets give it.I never thought of it that way but makes alot sence.I guess their's nothing i can do now but go with the flow.I'm scared to re-plant them in smaller containers now because i fig it will stunt them & maybe even kil them,i'm going to see if i can get a pic of them and down load it on here,i've never tried that yet.

exactly midniter, i probably wasn't clear in my explination. they are looking really good though. i you can let them veg for a good bit longer if you want. esperically if you have ~6ft to work with. what are the other dimensions of your area?

My space is around 4 foot x 6 foot & 8 foot high,i figure thats pretty good size to grow a descent size pants.I'm hoping i can get them around 3 foot high & put them into flowering then.I appreciate the info shake,i wish i'd talk to you before i started lol,i could have used my grow space in a better way than i did.As you said live & learn lol!I think they'll do ok around that height 2 1/2 to 3 foot in veggie then i'll cut light for 3 days on them, then put them on a 12-12 cycle & see the out come.I'll take some pictures every couple weeks and post them & maybe you & some others can give me some more good advice! Also on topping them i have plucked tops onetime should i do them like one-more time to get more runners on them?Thx for the info!

you're welcome midniter. i'm a noob myself. i just try to help when i can. like i said though, you might not be able to get them that big. you should try to check the root structure on one of them to see how big it is. you might be better off putting them into flower earlier and let them get as big as they can in bloom as opposed to letting them get big in veg and then not bloom good due to root structure/container issues. just a thought.
i'll keep helping out as much as i can. you can top then again. i haven't topped yet so i don't know much about it.

I just checked the roots out on a couple of them & they haven't went that deep yet.I'd say there probally around 5 inches down and plenty of room on the sides,so they have plenty of grow room for sure! What would be & idea size to start my 12-12?If they kep growing good like they are could i still go say around 2 1/2 feet & then put them into flowering?I took a small ruler & went around them and they will move if you start moving the soil so there not very deep.

After looking at my plants more closely this mornning i seen alittle yellowing on a couple of the leaves on 2 different plants,so i'm going to try and move the light up away from them by 6 inches & see if thy will stretch some.I'm not sure if this will work but it's worth a try to to get alittle more height on them,I also top them onemore time so i'm finished with that & i'll see where they go,i'll take more pictures in 1 week!
