Is GERD treatable via medical marijuana?

Hi,

Has anyone had experience using medical marijuana for GERD? I have not seen specific studies, but I have heard that it can possibly relax the gastrointestinal tract and alleviate the pain.

Has anyone gotten recommendations for MMJ specifically for GERD? Does it work?

I suffer from both GERDS and Gastroparesis, paralyzed stomach. The latter results in chronic nausea and vomiting which qualifies me for Medical Marijuana in any state where it is legal. But I live in a state where marijuana follows federal guidelines and apparently marijuana is as addictive as heroin in my state. I have seen that GERDS is a qualified treatment for medical marijuana in either Ca., Or., or Michigan. I'm sorry that I can't recall exactly which state it is but if you list GERDS and something like interrmittent chronic pain of some sort the two together should qualify you. Good luck. If you live in a Medical Marijuana state thank God that you have safe access to it for I have to live in fear of prison and fortfieture of property just trying to imorove my quality of live via Medical Marijuana. What a revolting situation this is. We must put mucho pressure on Obama to change this or vote him out in 4 years. Peace...:smokin:

You smoke with GERD? I don't understand how? Doesn't the smoke make it worse? I know in my case it does. Please shed some light =)

Hey Eltone--I'am no doctor but i do have gerd smoking can effect it!!but the pain is worse then the gerd.After a short time gerd is no longer a problem,and seldom returns.

In California it is in the medical data as being treatable by mmj. If you have trouble with smoking it, try edibles. Depending on what you get, a few can make you high, but most (i've tried) have not. However, both have solved my problem! A combination! Good luck, PR ;)

Makes it worse for me too.....and I don't smoke, just eat or use capsules. Run a search on it....there's tons of info here about mmj and GERD.......most of it thanks to Birdgirl.
