Growing some hydro here out some seeds that my friend gave me. He told me that they should be some pretty good seeds and was wondering if anyone could "identify" what strain I have(if it is even any good).

Not only is it too early, it's impossible to begin with. There have been literally hundreds of threads asking people to identify a strain of weed, and it can't be done. Sorry dude.

It's pot. What style of hydro are you running?

Even the same strain can look light years different when grown by different care takers depending on all sorts of equations.

Its not a very good setup...i'm on 12/12 right now for lighting (using both a 75w MH and two 15w full spectrum tube fluorescents). Its just a NFT system i believe, I have about 4 inches of nutrient water (use a 10-10-10 nutrient mix I found at Home Depot at about 1/2 strength) in the rubbermaid bucket in which the roots sit in. There is also a 4inch bubbler right under the roots in the water to airate the water. I am also using perlite as my growing medium mixed in with peat moss (70% perlite 30% peat moss). Everything LOOKS healthy as the roots are nice and white, leaves look healthy, and theres a decent growth rate.
I've also put this plant through alot of stress, as in i had a extreme algae outbreak during veg, once my light fell on the plant, and once i had acutally flooded the system. But she still seems to be growing strong.
I'm not looking to get anythign considerable off of this(hopefully atleast a 1/2oz) just to see if I cna do it.

I'm also adding a 100wat HPS light today as well. How long do you think I have left in flowering still....3 weeks??

HAHA my friend's dad is an ex-cop, and everytime he caught his son with herb he would take it into the police lab to get it analyzed...
Other than an experienced lab tech, Im not sure how the herb could be properly classified

King, a NFT system requires a constantly moving thin film of nute solution. That sounds like a modified DWC if the roots are sitting in water, but without pics it's hard to say.
Your plants look damn good for running home depot nutes in hydro, geez... you should start a grow log!

lab analysis is only to determine if the sample contains THC, and can be used as evidence ... they are no more able than anyone, to determine strain ... just smoke it, enjoy it, and call it 'pot' ... :smokin:

Thanks stinky! I do plan on starting a grow log...maybe i'll post something today on everything i've done so far.
My biggest issue right now is that I can't figure out why my Ph level skyrockets every 2-3hrs. I use lemon juice to drop by Ph level to about 5.5 but when I then the Ph level hits about mid 7's in about 2-3 hrs! I can't seem to figure it out as I've tried everything from washing out the entire system with bleech (except for the plant...lol).
I will post pics of my entire setup later on today but right now I gotta get back to finishing my term paper.

Oh oh oh I know why!!! Because lemon juice is not what you are supposed to be using.......you're supposed to be using ph down....which not only is much more healthy for your plants but it's ACTUALLY MADE TO KEEP YOUR PH DOWN with these things called "ph buffers!"
Sorry about the sarcasm but you set yourself up. Now off to the hydro store for some REAL plant products.
Good luck.

Ooooh...hahaha...I read online that you COULD use lemon juice. And as a poor college kid, using anything around the house is priority. I think i've spent less than $80 for the entire setup.

okay...so I took some pics today and another thing i forgot to mention is that I'm not sure if I have algae growth in my tub or if its some kind of sediment. I took pics and hopefully someone can help me out. I've duct taped my entire tub twice and I also cover the top of it with tinfoil so I doubt that theres any light getting into the tub.

Wrong you are my friend, testing for THC requires no lab, just a simple test kit. The police lab back in my home town identifies cross strains, they keep a tab on it... HAHA and they are VERY able at determining this
science these days...

any thoughts on my setup??

yes, use regular ph up and ph down. Start there. If you're locking out nutes by not using decent ph products your plants won't grow well college guy. They're not really interested in your issues or money problems....only their own. They're very selfish in that way. :D
Good luck. :)
And Sloth......I'm having a bit of trouble believing that a normal police department can keep tabs and identify different strains of weed. How about some proof of this?

science these days...Your town has a sequencer? Or runs tissue samples for DNA analysis? ZOMG!!1!!
Must be nice. Your tax dollars- a couple mil of them- at work, eh?
It is possible to link two growers together if there is a legal question of live plant transfer, or even transfer of product, by running DNA tests on the samples. It's like linking an attacker to his victim by taking a hair sample from his car and comparing the DNA to that of fluids found at the scene. IF the cops find a few bales of weed at one location and a mother plant that is genetically identical at another, that may be used as evidence to make a conspiracy charge stick.
FYI.

Yeah, I think they did analyze the DNA of the herb, because his Dad came back with a crazy specific species name, HAHA it was really intense and somewhat amusing

King 87.....sorry we took over your thread. You SHOULD start a grow log....you'll get alot more help and suggestions that way. Your plants look pretty good.
Good luck.

is that foil ur using in pic #0581? if so, i heard foil is not so good as it doesnt reflect back light usable to the plant, plus it can create hotspots...
I think I killed a plant w/ foil one time back in highschool, the thing got seriously fried, good thing it was a male...
