PETEnSKEET: First grow for the Dynamic Duo

Hey all,

This is kind of an introduction and the beginnings of a new grow log.

PETEnSKEET is a combo of two existing board members, SocialistPete and ElSkeetro. Some of you may know us. and some of you may know that we have a little hydro hobby group in our area.

Pete found some seeds he had forgotten for a bit. We have no clue what they are. Pete says he got them from a friend from Amsterdam, maybe from the Sensi Seed line.

Anyways. At this point there are 6 unknown seeds in a papertowel waiting to crack.

This is Pete like skeet said a friend went to the cup and brought back a bunch of mixed seeds. I totally forgot about them till last night when skeet was over at the pad. We might also do a little breeding with some of the males that pop hopefully stinky will give us some good advice on breeding.:):):):):)

Well here they are in their veg home (for now...)

I gave them all numbers so we can start taking notes and keeping track.

It's a kitty litter pan (clean of course) with 2 gallons of pH 5.9 tap water with 1 drop of Superthrive and a small shot of Hydrozyme. Each rapid rooter is in a 3" net pot, which i just "transplanted" into 6" pots. Each 6" pot is sitting directly on top of a 5" airstone and the bubbles are just rippin' away.

The #6 you see in the pics is a whole 'nother thing. I bought my wife a vase of flowers a while ago. I threw some grow rocks in there then arranged the roses for display. After the roses died my wife put the vase on the kitchen counter to be cleaned with some dirty dishes. A couple days later i went to clean it out and there was a 2" seedling sitting in the grow rocks!!! I haven't bought weed in forever so i don't think it's bagseed. None of my plants have had seeds (as far as i know...i'm very familiar with each of my buds). One possibility is a random carpet bean. We just tore up our living room carpet and I refinished the hardwood floors. Maybe it was hiding under the couch and got tossed about in all the ruckus. Anyways. IF IT SURVIVES...and if i can get it to be a sweet smoke...I will be naming it either "Immaculate Conception" or "Mother Mary"...Those names aren't taken yet right?

i haven't read any facts on the subject, but from peoples posts etc. it does seem that the males do grow bigger, faster.

Watch yourself Pete. I'm SUPER offended. I was hoping we could INCREASE the flower time to hopefully 6 months. I really only want 1 or 2 harvests this year.

i plan on crossing all our shit every which way. gimme the dense nugs, 8 weeks, and low height of the NLxS1, gimme the weight of the Rhino, and hopefully these new chicks will add some sex appeal, and maybe a quicker finish.

Other than that...the seedlings are doing A-OK. 2 and 5 are the furthest along. the rest are coming along at their own pace.

As far as #6 (the mystery seed not from this mystery pack) it's still growin, but the stem is pretty weak looking, dunno if it's gonna make it. Also i did some research to make sure "mother mary" wasn't an already existing strain. I had never heard it, but i guess that "mother mary" is a blanket term for marijuana right up there with ganja and maryjane...so i don't think that's a viable name. maybe it'll die and i won't have to worry about it...

I'll post more pics tonight or tomorrow.

I forgot how much I hate growing from seed:( Thats why even though I like going up to get new strains its just almost not worth to have to go through all the hassle and desperation.

Well here we are just about 2 weeks after Pete gave me the seeds. As you can see, all 5 are doing well. 2 is still far ahead of the others. Everyone is working on their 3rd set of leaves. I'm battling pH at the moment. Last night it was at 6.8 (after a long battle the previous day) i brought it down to 5.8 and this morning it was back to 6.5. grrrrrrr.

anyways, they don't seem to be that pissed about it. guess i'll keep fighting the good fight until it evens out.

can anyone see any discernible traits? Most leaves are looking indica to me.

1: all 5 seedlings in perspective.

2: my veggin rhinos. The little guy will be pulled and 2 NLxS1 will be added once they root a little more.

3: NLxS1 SCROG - it's just about 2 weeks flowering. It's covered about half the screen and i'm hoping it'll keep stretching to fill the whole thing.

4: Rhino SCROG - What a miracle! Due to neglect in veg this poor lass suffered some serious root rot. This is week 3 in flower and she has fully recovered and is back on track. I cut off all the bad roots then dosed her with hygrozyme, h2o2, and superthrive and a week later she had MASSIVE white roots and was back to business.

5: The underside of the NLxS1. I've been trying to tuck the fan leaves under te screen as opposed to cutting them, but sometimes i gotta do some thinning.

Alright! here we go. They're starting to look like real plants! #2 has secondary growth coming in. They look a little droopy, kinda wrinkly/twisty, a little spotty. What do you all think? Could definitely be pH, still fightin' that pretty hard. I think i need to clean/pre-soak my rocks better.

Haha. This is the third time i've attempted to answer this question! I saw you post it in that other thread, tried to answer it then, had it all typed but was on my way out the door and must not have submitted it. Then i saw you post it in this thread and i tried to answer it at work today, again all typed and my boss came through and i closed the window. So here we are. I am determined to answer now.

It came out pretty well. Dry weight from that one big ol' lady was 7 oz. that's my personal record so far and I have no complaints about the yield. It smells and tastes great. The high is decent, mostly heady up energy stuff. It's a great everyday smoke for me, i can function and just get into the groove. It probably could have gone another week to get a little heavier stone, but i like where it's at. I'll let the scrog go longer and see if i get my ass trampled :rhinoceros: :jointsmile: :upsidedow

The LST'd NLxS1 from that same grow log yielded about 3.8 oz. It suffered some bad root rot in the last few weeks. The LST brought the canopy much closer to the reservoir, which brought the light much closer to the reservoir, so my res temps sky rocketed and i didn't notice till it was too late. It tastes and smells pretty good. The high is a bit heavy. I was watching TV with Mrs. Skeet last night and wanted to go to bed. It took me 3 episodes of the simpsons and a full length movie (Mortal Kombat: Annihilation...sooo corny) to final roll off the couch and stumble into bed.

I wish we could get together and trade rhinos. The way you speak of her sounds legendary.

#2 is about to be cloned for sex.

#'s 3, 4, and 5 have been cloned for sex, we are waiting for them to root.

a couple of them have started showing female preflowers, so that's kind of exciting. I think Pete is coming over tonight so we'll do some sexy picture updates.

Sucks man, we had some sweet shit happening here before it all disappeared.

RED = Male/Murdered.
GREEN = Female!!!
YELLOW = Female!!!
BLUE/#2 = will know soon.

2 out of 5 seeds are female. and possibly 2 different strains.

As long as they smoke well and aren't gonna hermie on me then I'm happy.

Alright. final sex report:

Red: Male...dead
Blue: Male...dead
Yellow: Female that put out serious balls in flower week 2, killed em all.

Green: True blue female through and through!

So out of all that mess we only got one female. But what a female she is turning out to be!

Here's my trait list so far:
easy to clone - 100% success rate so far
Hardy Veg - Short, thick stalks
Lots of strong branches

There are 2 clones in flower right now. At 3 weeks in they are only about 8" tall and have branches coming out all over and lots of budsites are showing up. that's about all i can say right now.

I have another clone that i've started as a bonsai mum and will do my best to keep her around for many years to come. I have a handful of clones waiting to root and i will veg those out for a few weeks then flower them to see how they do in a normal grow environment.

So that's about it until the smoke report comes in. I'll do some pics and shit along the way.
